Mig dropped for Karius

I've seen it said a few times that dropping Mig for Karius was a mistake but was it really?

Mig has been great since. This was no mistake, it was a brilliant piece of man management, or what do you say?

It all depends if Mig can maintain this level of form. If he does, then there's no need to buy another keeper, because he's been the best keeper in the league for at least a month. Of course, he'll make the odd mistake, but some on here act as if he's the only keeper to do this

Mignolet isn't good enough in my opinion. People say he has improved and that's true but not dropping the ball from crosses shouldn't be praised - it should be expected.

So if he's doing what is expecting of him why does he need replaced?

Yeah, useless feck. How many goals and assist did he get all season? Even less than Pogba!!!!!

I think at the time mingolet made a few errors..

At the present time mingolet has stepped up for after bad errors in a couple game sin early feb (like chelsea blooper) and has really given a good account of himself.

I think terminator hits it for me. Will he maintain it... if he does then you don't need to replace when theres 5/6 other positions you could work on.

I only referenced catching the ball - but there's more to a keepers game.

His improvement with catching a football shouldn't be the measurement of his qualities.

I expect lots of different qualities from a GK - catching, kicking, distribution, speed, shot stopping, positioning, organise his box etc etc

Some people think he's good enough to be Liverpools #1, but I'm in the other camp who believe Simon just isn't in that top tier of goalkeepers.

Where does the idea that Karius was brought in to be first choice come from? I think it was meant to add competition and it seems to be working. Mig knows Klopp will have no problem dropping him if he consistently isn't on his game.

I said it at the time. Mignolet was in good form, no doubt the competition pushed him on. However who knows, maybe he wouldn't have been as good as he has been if he wasn't dropped.

Exactly. All we know is that this 'mistake' worked a charm, whether by accident or on purpose.

Only after Karius was brought in by Klopp did I see what IMO is genuine improvement from him. The three years before that he was just the same for me, no improvement what so ever.

Remains to be seen whether the keeper problem has been solved, however. This coming season should confirm this.

Will Mig stay on this path? If he does we don't need a new keeper IMO, but will he?

For quite a few times in the season I thought Migs was a lost cause and had no future at Liverpool. However, over the last 10-15 games hes been solid and arguably our best player and a major factor in us getting over the line. It would cost easily £15-£20m to bring in someone who would be marginally better. I see no sense in replacing him and putting the money to better use in the summer.

Where? From the mouth of our manager.
