Scotland Team

Goalkeepers: Gordon (Celtic), Hamilton (Hearts), Marshall (Hull City)

Defenders: Anya (Derby County), Berra (Ipswich Town), Kingsley (Swansea City), Martin (Norwich City), Reynolds (Aberdeen), Robertson (Hull City), Tierney (Celtic)

Midfielders: Armstrong (Celtic), Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday), Brown (Celtic), Cairney (Fulham), Fletcher (West Bromwich Albion), Forrest (Celtic), Fraser (Bournemouth), McArthur (Crystal Palace), McGinn (Hibernian), McLean (Aberdeen), Morrison (West Bromwich Albion), Snodgrass (West Ham United)

Forwards: Fletcher (Sheffield Wednesday), Griffiths (Celtic), Martin (Derby County), Murphy (Brighton & Hove Albion), Naismith (Norwich City)

Genuinely don't get some of those picks. Let's start with the omissions

Chuck Mulgrew. Not his biggest fan by any stretch but had a blinder again Slovakia and is calm and composed at the back with good distribution. Can't fathom why he hasn't kept his place as we looked solid for the first time in ages with at back 4 of Tierney Martin Mulgrew and Robertson. This will unsettle the back 4 and come back to bite us

Callum McGregor. Deserved to be in the squad on current form. And let's be honest, playing for a Celtic team on fire I'd play as many current Celtic players in the team as possible to carry that form and confidence into this must win game. Loses out to the likes of Barry fvckin Bannsn. Dear god

Oliver Burke. Playing for a team that's just finished 2nd in the Bundesliga ffs. Yet can't make the squad ahead of Fletcher, Martin, Murphy or Naismith . Granted he's been a sub most of the season except started this weekend. But he has played a part in almost every game. If lack of starts is his reason for omission then why the fvck is Naismith in the squad ? He can't get anywhere near a startin jersey for a p!ss poor Norwich team. Diabolical that there's a new boy from Brighton in the squad in favour of him. Burke can make a big impact from the bench.

I despair at the attackers chosen. Griffiths must be a certain starter. Although we never know with WGS and McGhoo in charge. Won't be surprised to see them retreat into their shell in this game instead of building on the excellent performance against Slovakia.

Don't u fvckin dare start with either of the Fletchers in this game

Team basically picks itself now

------------------- Gordon ---------------

Tierney Martin. Berra. Robertson

------------- Brown. McArthur ---------

--------Forrest. Armstrong Snodgrass --------

-------------------- Griffiths -----------

Being pedantic our last game was against Slovenia, Slovakia have already horsed us

I honestly look at that squad and fear at least another 3 v 0 pumping

By the way, I said this half jokingly a few weeks ago, but I am serious now. I would get Brendon to manage Scotland on a part time basis.

All Brendon would have to do is pick most of his Celtic squad.

I know it won't happen but I wish to God it would.

Please , someone remove Strachan from his job. He has us kicking way below what we could be.

Look at Celtic to see the difference appointing a decent manager / coach makes.

I would prefer us to be unmanaged than have attached. He is that poor I think.

Ironically, I actually like the guy as a pundit. He seemed ok with Celtic too, although I do recall Lennon having to come in and bail him out (I think) towards the end.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

For the last two campaigns I've wanted the useless wee cvnt removed as I said he had us punching below our weight

...to cries from the usual suspects of "who'd you replace him with"? ...

..."a new manager would only have the same players to work with..."

I think you've well and truly put that argument to bed over new managers working with the same players..

Needless to say, the usual suspects are conspicuous by their absence now

The irony is, when it has got to "must win" stage we put in a great result and performance in last outing. But this latest selection is concrete proof WGS and McGhoo are totally out their depth and incapable of putting their country before their own favourites and allegiances.

I do realize that, but it's a moot point...

I agree we are gonna get humped. You could drive a coach n horses thru the chosen CBs. What a shame because the other 8 outfield places can be filled with good players capable of winning against a good, but not anything special, England team

I would consider D Fletcher at CB for Internationals

Why do Scotland supporters that attend the games not do something useful and protest to get the clowns removed! Surely if you pay money to see the dross he produces in poor squad selection and team selection and performances, you would be tempted to boo and perhaps lose it!

We can't be any worse under a part time manager. McInnes for instance would be better than Strachan and that's with McInnes keeping full time managing Aberdeen.

I wish they would do something different like have Darren Fletcher as player manager.

Better still - how about this one - appointment Scott brown as player manager and Captain. How much worse off could we be?

Neil Lennon would be a good choice too.

I honestly believe it takes a special skill to be as poor as Strachan is.

I read in Alex Ferguson book that he found gorden Strachan to get bored very easily and to be honest, he shows no enthusiasm for the Scotland job whenever I have seen him. If he can't be bothered it doesn't inspire enthusiasm amongst the players.

Gee the gig tae Malky Mackay, it is his job to get talent through so give him a 20year contract and if he doesn't win the World Cup by then he's failed as Performance Director

They're only good for singing "doh-a-deer" gettin pashed, applauding failure and Strachan for beating Gibraltar twice. They're the reason he's still there.

There's a new generation of Scotland fan brought up in abject failure, led to believe it's acceptable and some sort of progress.... because "we're a small nation"

Get that tae fvck if u ask me. Get in a decent manager. Give him a contract for one campaign and heavily incentivize him for qualification. If he fails, he's sacked. End of

Agree 100% ESC.

The small nation theory has no Foundation, there are so many examples of small nations excelling at sport.

We have wrong people running our game from top to bottom, that's the only reason. What other country would allow Strachan to keep his job! Says it all.

1/ new Zealand. Consistently produce world beating rugby teams. Population 4.5 million.

2/ Iceland qualify for tournament later stages and eliminate England. Population. 330,000.

3/ Denmark - won the euros , produce great international teams - population 5.5 million.

4/ Eire - qualify for tournaments regularly - population 4.5 million. Football is not even Ireland's main sport.

5/ Belgium - produce great teams and quality regular for tournaments - population 11 million.
