Jordan Pickford

If (when) De Gea leaves would anyone be against us signing Pickford, and then play Romero as our number 1 for a season while Pickford develops and gets used to the club? Or is he old enough/good enough to be our number 1 now?

Sunderland fans, how good is he really? Any areas of weakness in his game?

United fans, if not Pickford who do you want to be our new number 1, and who do you think it will be?

Sounds like a good plan

The guy is superb and Sunderland would have been relegated a long time before they were without his saves.

The only issue I can see is that Romero won't want to willingly become a number two again, after a season of being number 1.

I'd also play Pickford in the domestic Cup games in his first season.

Unsure about Pickford, seen him pull off wonder saves, but also concede some where better, or even taller keepers wouldn't have struggled.

Does he look better because he plays in front of such a poor defense and is so busy?

The Mignolet effect.

Pickford looks decent but lets face it most PL keepers look great when they have to make save after save. The errors they make are not highlighted as they are most likely getting a pasting.

He's made a few errors as well this season lets not forget. Any talk of Manchester United is surely well premature.

Off to a West Ham or Everton for a few years and revisit him then.

It's a different type of goalkeeping that is required at big clubs, having long periods with little/nothing to do requires a different mentality than a 'keeper down the bottom who is facing shots and crosses every 10 minutes or so.

Rob Green and Ben Foster are prime examples of this, at WHU and Watford they'd produce worldy saves in a match to keep the score down, which masked the mistake they made which led to a goal.

I do rate Pickford however, he's been linked with Everton quite strongly, it's be interesting to see how he gets on at a club that size before (maybe) making the step up.

Is Pickford a good distributor? Also, is he a sweeper keeper?

Heaton is the keeper we should get as he is one of our own lol.

Burnley really deserved to be relegated this season. They performed similar to Sunderland in matches
