City have signed Bernardo Silva

getting in there quick.

Good player, would have liked United to have been in for him.

I think Griezmann would work best for us on the left. Our creativity in midfield comes from Pogba on the left, Griezmann's movement off the ball would make a big difference down that side for us when you compare it to the options we've had.

I don't know, it's a prediction. Not that wild a prediction either. Mourinho and Martial don't look that happy working together.

TRS, depends what happens with Zlatan. I don't think we'll sign a striker if he stays.

I read today that Aubeyemang has put in a transfer request at Dortmund and would be available for £40 million

Imagine if we got him and Griezmann

Hello good counter attacking

Sounds fantastic however he is certain to go to Madrid IMO unless they've set their sights on Mbappe instead now

Aubeyemang may want to go there but I'm not sure Madrid are that bothered by him and for good reason.

Griezmann is either a attacking mid or centre forward.

--------------------------------------------------

Griezmann has always played up front with a partner so he can drop deep and help supply whoever that partner may be.

He is not a lone centre-forward and I can't see José playing him as one or us playing with two up front either, hence why I believe he'll play from the left and take Martial's place.

And what is this nonsense people are posting about Griezmann being an "attacking mid"?

I have literally never seen him play such a role. Ever.

But you said he drops deep when playing with a partner.
Then why not have Griezmann and Rashford together and Griezmann can drop off slightly and play that no. 10 role? He can play there at the end of the day.

--------------------------------------------------

For me Griezmann's role for Atletico differs somewhat from that of an out and out number 10 but ok then, say for arguement sake that does happen, how do you propose we get the best out of Pogba who's best used in a midfield three?

We lack creativity in midfield as it is. Pogba plus one other and Griezmann ahead won't exactly remedy that problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why does Pogba have to play in a 3?
What's wrong with Pogba in a 2 with Herrera especially in the games against lower opposition. We have a strong possibility of buying one of the top 5 attacking players in the world. We have been utterly atrocious going forward for the last 2-3 yrs yet you wouldn't buy him? Ludicrous

Because, very simply, you're then taking a player to build your side around and deploying him in a role that sees him relegated to the status of an average PL central midfielder.

It's not rocket science. You're talking about making a whisky and coke out of a twenty five year old Islay single malt.

Utter nonsense. Some of his better games came in a two. He can sit deep and spray balls he can get box to box etc. Him being further forward with his back to goal is not his best position IMO

He sits a little deeper to your normal striker but can still work in a two. What the likes of mata or Mkhi would also be doing

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Just about all of his best games came when we played 4-1-2-3 consistently, with Herrera in the holding role and Pogba next to Mata or with Carrick deep and Pogba next to a box-to-box Herrera.

I'd have to check, but I'd bet just about every one of his MOTM awards came when we played a midfield three.

There's also the fact that he's covered too many miles this season. You want your £90m player playing every week, of course; but if he's going to play in a midfield two with additional defensive duties, he's necessarily going to have to cover more territory and rack up more mileage.

He's also just not very consistent defensively. He doesn't yet (and granted this can change) have the focus or discipline needed if you're going to have to track a midfield opposite number for 90 minutes.

If we played a midfield two of Pogba and Herrera away from home in the PL against just about anybody, we'd have to concede the midfield battle, cede possession, and play backs to the wall, counterattacking football, which, right now at least, we are crap at. It is also terrible stuff to watch and not what I want to see (although I accept other people will disagree with me on this).

If we were to sign Griezmann, I'd be playing him on the right hand side of a front three, a little deeper and closer to Mata or Mkhi at deep inside right in easier home fixtures, or a new centre forward (I also don't think Rashford would be the right kind of striker to link up with Griezmann) in away fixtures.

I still don't understand the signing unless we're really going to play counterattacking football from a super-deep position most weeks next season. And that'd be a massive gamble.
