According to sources close to Sky Sports, Garry Monk tendered his resignation because the club had kept him “out of the loop" on key areas such as transfers in and out of Leeds this summer as well as the appointment of new directors. Really.
Radrizzani had only owned the club for 24 hours when GM resigned via his agent, so who had AR been discussing the potential key transfers with, and when.
Maybe a few months ago AR thought we would be in the play offs, and had thought about players that he would want to come to Leeds if we reached the EPL
Maybe his New Board appointees Bravo and Kinnear had been discussing the types of player we would need in the EPL.
Maybe he was seeing what top talent these two could entice to Leeds.
Maybe he had seen Monks less than spectacular history in the transfer market and was less than confident in his ability to attract the right players, and actually saw that it was Pep Clotet who had the vision and ability to bring in the right players. Certainly that is something that a close friend and former Swansea Director once told me about Clotet.
And finally, when does any manager have a say in Board appointments, even if one is a Sporting Director with vastly more knowledge than him and who was successful at several top flight European Clubs.
The more that seems to be emerging regarding GM going, the more I feel that he believed he was the new 'Special One' at Leeds, despite bottling it in the final third of the season, and when things started to go wrong he and his agent were already planning a move. Wonder why Clotet and Beattie didn't follow him.
Could it be Pep as our new manager.?
Did Monk lose focus months ago.

Burton beat a lot of sides, get over yourself. And Algarve idiot has got me wondering how Monk lost twice to us when you beat us at your place.
Just find it kinda sad that some fans jump on a bloke just because he leaves.
I'd be gutted if/when Hecky leaves us.

Sorry Snapski got you confused with the Udders lot, who spend all their time on our board. Rather than a Barnsley one.

One win in eight would normally see him sacked at Leeds. Yet we offered him another year.
Gratitude hey?

Stoopo, in the last 15 games we only picked up 21 points.
Same as Burton.
So that in his eyes was worth at least 3 years.

Really don't think you are in a position to state what happened behind the scenes as fact since you have no idea what has actually gone down.

Strange how the people saying this wasn't saying this a week ago
Yet the people who haven't been bumming him all season, were getting slated for doubting monk

Clotet or Beattie could be the right man for the job, just like O'Leary was when GG left.
Bottom line: he has gone and we need someone new. I liked Monk but was perplexed by some of his decision-making. Felt he needed to sit in the stands to see the actual game and what we needed, because he sure didn't seem to see some of it when at ground level.
But he was more successful than most of our other managers (er, coaches) since Grayson.
New MD coming in, new owner in, new manager, and new players. Typical pre-season for us.

What a depressing article. How fickle are some folk.
Points in the past 5 seasons: 61, 61, 57, 56 and 59. This season we got 75 and the 606 experts tell us how poor Monk was, no plan B, lost focus, poor buys. In most seasons 75 would have seen us in the play offs.
Monk, like any manager, isn't perfect, but his achievement at Leeds deserves praise. I'm only sad that he wasn't allowed to spend money in January when things were going well. I'm also disappointed that he wasn't offered a 3 year contract at that time.
As I have said before, the club's actions imply that they didn't want Monk to stay and they have decided to bring in their own coach and management structure. If we achieve 75 points next season, I will say well done to them. That we are mid table in the betting doesn't fill me with confidence that next season will be better than this one.

Whats also depressing here is the fact that when we learnt AR was coming in it was said he would take 50% control off the club and at the end off the season take the other 50%
In the same write ups it also said he was looking to take control and bring his own people into the backrooms,(he's been doing!)and a new coaching staff!..
Maybe things didn't go at all well with talking, because the club did drag its heels as was mentioned often enough on these boards!..
As far as Monk goes and all the crap directed at him, AR also said that player's coming in were Cellinos work and had nothing to do with Monk!..
So, lets do our usual bashing at things that it seems were not handled the way we wanted and no reasons were given, fact is, Monk must have felt a dumb ass while getting these player's one step further and knowing that the new guy might not be interest in what he has to say!..
Like Jack says, I think this was more off what AR wants than what Monk got, I don't think he was wanted, so, whoever comes in, I hope it shows AR out to be what we are hoping for!..

Agree with Jack. I must admit I was hoping Monk would be fully supported by the new owner.
Radrazzani is a business head who has just taken on a new long-term development project. He was unsure about GM because it must be admitted that there were issues with his coaching/management of the first team. He must take responsibility for our failure to make the playoffs, which was pretty spectacular. I don't blame AR for not jumping to Monk's tune, even though I do think they could have negotiated the ins and outs more comprehensively once AR had taken full control.
Monk is ambitious, perhaps a little too much so? I don't blame him for wanting to get on. His season in charge of us seems all the more spectacular because we've been so dire for so long.
I do think having a younger manager is better for us at this stage. I definitely don't want Ranieri to come in, despite his successful career, etc. I'd rather have Wagner if he becomes free. He got right up Monk's nose, didn't he, but which of them was the more successful in the end?

This says it all for me, what AR said about GM proves to me GM did not have a choice as was not offered a 3 yr deal straight off.
"I never had a chance to know him. I don't see any problem with us having this period and then, with more time and calm, discuss an extension.
