Wanted a 2 year deal, WBA only offering a 1 year deal.
Fletcher agrees Stoke switch

Like I said...
Performances have rapidly declined, right to the point where most Baggies fans would tell you their ideal line ups and Fletcher wouldn't be in it. But his leadership and personality round the club will be a loss.
All about who we bring in to replace.
A return for William Carvalho?

If it is indeed the case that he wanted two years and we only wanted to offer one, then I'm quite happy to back the judgement of our medical team, they get it right more often than not.
There are two other things that I think could possibly factors here-
1-Fletch was our captain, maybe somebody else is coming in that will be captain.
2-It's well publicised that we have made bids for central midfielders over the past year, Carvalho and Camacho being two. Livermore is obviously going to be looked upon as a more long term first choice, plus Yacob can still do a job there. If we are looking for more creativity in the middle then Darren's game time might have been less next season.
Good luck to him, it'll be interesting to see who comes in, this summer is even bigger now than it was a few hours ago.

He was your best player, one of the main reasons why you finished so high this year

No he wasn't.

Best player
Some of us (including me) didn't even want him in the starting line up.
Too slow and he often gave away possession only to blame his team mates for his mistakes.
He can rot in Stoke's reserves alongside Berahino!

Fletch signs for Stoke.

In a way, it's a problem solved. He was fast becoming in danger of not being a first-choice player, and I think we can do better. But good luck to him.

I'm personally slightly concerned.
I really hope this isn't a signal of our window to come. Losing a player we wanted to keep to a rival. Already hearing lots of rumours that the new owners are not willing to invest which would make sense given how Fletcher and TP have both signalled they're happy to move on!

He was a very decent performer and left owing us nothing. A very professional player and a good man to have at the club.
I wish him well for the future.
All that said we move on, hopefully to find a better, younger replacement.
