Hi all, just been reading the messages on this forum and I just cannot fathom why people are comparing the VVD transfer to Pogba. These are two different players.
Now if we want to consider the potential VVD transfer, then surely this needs to be compared to the Rio Ferdinand transfer from Leeds to Man Utd in 2002 for £34 million. Both center halves, and both about the same value if we factor in 15 years of inflation and the what not.
Back then nobody batted an eyelid over the Ferdinand transfer, as he was a quality player who massively improved UTD.
The potential VVD transfer is exactly the same, although he may not be worth £60 million, he is certainly worth it to Liverpool, he would be a massive improvement to the squad, and if it is that price, then so what ?

if it means that your lot drop the smug net spend stuff, and ease off on the pogba "hilarities", it will be worth every penny

really? you're about to spend £50m + on a guy who has fewer dutch caps (boom boom) than bruno martins indi, who spent last year on loan at stoke, and you're going to start with that?

Not sure why fans care about the price of a player.
................
Some of them, I am one, don't want to see their club waste excess amounts of money on players who are not worth it.
From United's perspective, we have done an awful lot of that lately.
And to make it worse we seem to let players go on the very cheap.

How do you think united would have gotten on this season without Pogba?
How do you think Liverpool would have performed with Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool?
These are genuine questions BTW, I don't think united would have been much worse and i think Liverpool would have been much better. Value is relative

I think in fairness at the time it was a ridiculous fee for ferdinand at that time but in the end it proved more than manageable and good for utd.
the argument might be well they produced vidic for much much less and he was as important
In the end... who is to say.
