The Master has spoken!

Andrea Radrizzani tweeted this a couple of hours ago:

"I understand frustration, we are meeting candidates this week. It is important we take the time to make the best decision for the club #LUFC"

What I'm taking from this is that they've got together, actually worked out a list of potential candidates and are interviewing this week, meaning that we could have a new manager in either by the end of this week or early next week.

Dictionary definitions to try and prove points......

Rich, the club worded the statement to allude to Monk looking elsewhere as if he had something else lined up.

Hate it when club tries to blame players/managers.

Have no doubt that Monk will find a decent role elsewhere and I'd wish him well with that.

The sooner we start tying down assets so they have more value to us, the better.

I think you can get a good sense for where blame can be apportioned:

Warnock: messed us about
BM: club messed him about
Redfearn: he stirred things up, club messed him about
Evans: he opened his mouth too much, club messed him about
Monk: not supported in Jan, club didnt try and tie him down, club didnt really sell him a proposition or make him really want to stay

I dont think AR would make a booboo of Hockaday proportions (was incredible at the time that some fans on here actually tried to justify the appointment), but he is on a learning curve, this should be remembered.

I am with Stoopo on this. We should have tied Monk down when we had the chance.
Monk took a broken-down-going nowhere club, added 20 points to our tally for the season, galvanising a bunch of nomads, mavericks and charlatans into a team we could be proud of. All this against a backdrop of Cellino's trigger happy relationship with previous coaches, ongoing tussles with the FA and irrational outbursts in the media.
Monk gave us a team we were proud to support, and a season to re-ignite our belief in LUFC. Of course he deserved a lengthier contract.. We will rue the failure to tie Monk down when we had the chance.
When we weigh up what he achieved against what he did not achieve, the scales are weighted hugely in his favour.
Radz is new to club ownership and I think he was expecting Monk to accept anything he was prepared to offer, simply because he had said he wanted to succeed with Leeds.
The more likely truth for me is that Monk had decided, around the time he made those comments at the end of the transfer window, that this was a club that was likely to tie his hands before throwing him to the lions. Unlike his recent predecessors he simply chose to avoid that outcome.
The result? The usual lack of continuity and uncertainty, when we should be setting up for the most highly-anticipated season since we were relegated from the Premier League.
Radz may be a smart businessman but he's got a lot to learn about running this club..

Agree good Evans

But to be fair to rad, I don't think he knows much about football (the sport side of it) which I don't think is such a bad thing and that's why he's getting a lot of football people in.

And i don't mind a mistake, as long as it's an honest one.

Good Evans and LIW both well said.

I know I'm a bore and people like to ignore me, but like I've been saying, AR said he wanted to bring his own team in, but then said he gets on really well with Monk!..

It could be he intended signing Monk long term but when we fell apart at the last hurdle he had a change off mind!..

It seems like something went horribly wrong somewhere with talks and one or the other didn't like what was put on the table!..

The thing is, LIW, we have made so many mistakes over the past 15 years that we are totally unable to recognise when we get things right. Honest or otherwise, our club is defined by the mistakes of its owners, and their vain attempts to pass the buck on to their managers. Monk simply decided that this wasn't for him. Can you blame him for that?

What I was confused with was how we will sit down and sort his contract out suddenly became, well we are going to trigger his clause so we have time to sort it out at some point in the future

That is horsecrap.

What's to sort out?
You tell monk to be in your office the next Monday and to bring his agent if he wants because you are going to get it sorted and tell him what you are providing him to do it.

Why should monk sit around on another year deal hoping that at some point someone will sort his contract out when they have already said 2 or 3 times, no, no don't worry it will be sorted.

The club messed up, monk had a temp contract and they just assumed he would be happy with another temp contract when in fact everyone knew he would be more than able to find work because of the work he did at Leeds
