How do you look at his time/contribution at Chelsea?
Utter šhite?
Could be brilliant, be just too inconsistent?
Under-appreciated?
A fine Chelsea servant who did not seem to complain?

It could be blue tinted specs on my behalf (although I do believe the time he left was right time to go)
But I do think he was probably under-appreciated by a few of us. He was bought as a fwd/striker and very seldom played as one.
His inconsistency and decision making would occasionally boil my pišš, but with the benefit of hindsight I think he did do a good job for us. He did seem to just get on with his job without complaining and he did pop up with some very important goals. Helping protect our unbeaten record at home to Spurs being right up there
Perhaps he was like some player (although not nearly as good as Ole) our “super sub" and not suited to being a regular starter at our club?
Bringing this up now because people state we were wrong to sell Schurrle and I found the same things that annoyed me about Schurrle were the same as Kalou. We the club right or wrong to sell the world cup winning player?

He popped up on the odd occasion ,
Complete rubbish im afraid .
He was consistently inconsistent , when he he was on his game he was decent and scored many important goals.
When he was off his game he was frustrating because you knew he could do better.
Valued servant in his time at the club Imo.

Kalou or Malouda who was better?
Kalou was more consistent than Malouda ( both inconsistent though ) but Malouda had the best season out of all of their seasons

Agreed with your analysis - There was an 18 month period of time where Malouda was not rubbish!!
But over their Chelsea careers i'd rather have Kalou.

Malouda's 09/10 season alone puts him streets ahead of Kalou in my opinion. Kalou had a nack of coming into a game late on and managing to nick the odd goal. Bar that, he was terrible. Like watching a child who thinks they're the bòllöx, and never passes the ball when in reality. They're awful.

During that period where we tried Moses, Salah, Schurrle and Cuadrado I missed Kalou and in hindsight found him under appreciated. At his best boasted a 1 in 3 goal record for us in all competitions, frustrating as may be gotta account for a good output that most squad player wingers struggle to get. He was versatile too. He was probably = Schurrle, actually a good comparison in what they brought to the squad, except Schurrle shot more.

I liked Kalou just like I liked Schurrle,Anelka and Malouda as he was our important player and our supersub.We should not have sold Schurrle and also we made a mistake when we sold Ryan Bertrand.

No rose tinted specs on me here. He was the epitome of average playing in teams that have included some of our best ever players in their primes. His presence in those teams was just odd.
Looking back I can appreciate the contributions of Ferreira, Malouda & Anelka, but not Kalou (or Mikel). It's interesting the manager who showed consistent faith in him was Grant, just sums his unmemorable spell with us up.
