Peter Lorimer

Rivalries aside, been told he has brain cancer. Hope he beats that god awful disease. Was a wonderful player. My dad was a proper home and away fan until the late 90s and he was one of his favourite players.

Really shocked to hear the sad news. Peter scored the first ever goal I saw live at Elland Road in 1967(against Chelsea in a 1-0 win). I wish him a speedy and full recovery from this terrible illness.

Truly sad news if true. One of our greats. Not much I could say that hasn't been echoed by any other Leeds fan.

Hope he recovers.

Echoing the comments of others. One of the greats, thoughts are with him and his family.

Peter's one of our greats that I was fortunate, as a teenager, to watch in the 60s & 70s. In the days before substitutes, I remember him pulling on the goalkeeper's jersey once or twice when needed. Don't recall his shot-stopping abilities, but his goal kicks were memorable. Be strong, Peter.

I remember as a kid being proud as punch to have the same initials, could never live up to it on the field though
A Real Legend, Keep Fighting Peter .

Well I took a lot off crap for defending him on these boards, he was my all time favorite footballer!..

McKenzie jumping over the Mini, Peter's testimonial if I'm not mistaken, I was in the Kop!..

Well, this is one fight I cant defend him in!..

I know all the best Peter won't help much, but I'll say it anyway!..

All the best Peter, a Leeds legend through and through and part off this clubs history which we can thank him for!..

Sorry, I lie, I'm mixing Lorimer's testimonial up with Paul Reaney's, but I was in the kop for both so it don't matter much!.

Definitely my favourite player in the Revie era. The excitement generated when Peter was bursting forward and winding up to unleash one of his rocket shots from distance brought goosebumps when watching. The ball in that era was much heavier than today and flew straighter than it does today. His disallowed goal against Bayern Munich still upsets me when ever it is mentioned.
