Ifab

A proposal to scrap 45-minute halves is to be looked at by football's lawmakers to deter time-wasting.

Instead, there could be two periods of 30 minutes with the clock stopped whenever the ball goes out of play.

Lawmaking body the International Football Association Board (Ifab) says matches only see about 60 minutes of "effective playing time" out of 90.

The idea is one of several put forward in a new strategy document designed to address football's "negativities".

Another proposal would see players not being allowed to follow up and score if a penalty is saved - if the spot-kick "is not successful", play would stop and a goal-kick awarded.

Other ideas include a stadium clock linked to a referee's watch and a new rule allowing players to effectively pass to themselves or dribble the ball when taking a free-kick.

Thoughts gents?

My thoughts are fooking leave the rules alone, stop fooking or looking to fook about with them, things are fine as they are.

Read the above link to see what other proposals there are

Have always thought you should get only 1 chance goalies or woodwork rebounds stops play as in the.nhl

Nah.

Prior to the foul which leads to the penalty, the attacking player has the opportunity for a rebound if his shot is saved. Shouldn't be any different for the penalty.

Other than the pass back rule which is quite straight forward changing an indirect offence to a direct one the others seem pointless or just stupid

Even the back pass thingy how many did you see last year
I can't think of one in our games so what's the point

If a player after being fouled needs treatment off the pitch the offener should have to stay off the pitch with him until the injured player resumes play.
And do away with foul throws.

Imagine Dembele is terrorising the opposition, gives away a soft foul, and the player he fouled goes to the sidelines and "gets treatment" for the rest of the game just so Dembele has to sit out the remainder of the game as well.
Very open to cheating.

At the end of the day, a player who requires treatment after being fouled shouldn't have to leave the pitch. The treatment is given in the pitch, then there is a slow trudge off, and then the player wants to come straight on. Pointless.

Within reason of course. I hate it when a player gets injured, the offender gets a yellow and the other team are down a player until he's treated. I should be looked at.

The game should not stop for substitutions..complete waste of time. There is a fourth official that could oversee switch without having to stop the game...and all this checking of the studs for subs only
