Dunno if tongue in cheek or not but irrelevant, Ireland, Italy, Poland any other catholic countries that are developed all have no population growth.

So if the Catholic Church said it was okay to use condoms do you think population rises in Africa would continue?

Japan's population is on a worrying decrease due to pleasure dolls apparently.

We need a new charity called "Pleasure Doll World" that gives them out to all poverty stricken areas with too higher a population like Africa, India and Middlesbrough.

Of course, I don't know if you're being serious or not? Catholicism is one of many, many religions in Africa and a growing population is literally just a sign of a developing country irrespective of the religion.

There's an estimated 160 million Catholics in Africa

No it wouldn't, the countries need to continue to develop economically, improve education and give women same opportunities as men.

And improving contraception access would also help, yeah, that wouldn't be achieved by the Pope saying they're alright though.

Depends how we live, i think.

If we continue down this path of consumption, then 1 billion max...

If we are a little more enlightened and less greedy, we could probably sustain 2-3 billion.

Yeah true. Sadly I have zero faith in either mankind breeding less or it becoming more responsible.

Maximum children limit should be set to 2 in first world countries. More difficult in places like Africa, but something needs done about the overpopulation there.

In fairness you could have 100 african children (from underdeveloped nations) and they'd be less harmful to the environment than one child from the UK.

IMO there should be incentives to not have any children. People talk about the economic issues of an aging population but it's a total cop out. In our society with the technology available there really doesn't need to be billions of young workers propping one huge, all encompassing, toxic ponzi scheme.

As someone who works in VR, i can see VR pron bringing the population down too.... I think, within 50 years, it will be indistinguishable from reality.... Loads of men will just opt for banging a new girl every night rather than getting married and having kids in the real world.

Hell, you could probably have the marriage/kids in VR too.

Should be taxable, up to 2 children no tax, every child after gets 10% tax rise.

For those on benefits- they would be a problem. Fixed payment to families that is set to 2 children. Anymore then you have to find a way to feed them. I.e get a fecking job.
