China U20 to play in German 4th division

Bit of an odd move. Or a progressive one?

Chinas U20 team are gonna play in the German 4th division next season. Seemingly the German FA and the Chinese FA have some sort of agreement to increase exposure of German clubs in China and to help improve the standard of Chinese football.

Only 19 teams are registered to play in the Southwest Division, so to even it out, invite China! Each of the other 19 teams are being paid a lump of cash by China

The idea is that this would help prepare the Chinese team for the 2020 Olympics, or as one executive at club Oberhausen puts it, "The league turns into a circus so Bayern Munich can sell more jerseys in China."

So after all the snootiness in Germany about 50+1 German ownership, and the sponsors name issue and the whole palaver with RB Leipzig, now its a case of just handing over an envelope of cash to quieten down the competition and ignore all those earlier principles they had.

Why cant the team who finished just below the promotion spot in the league below join? oh they want some dirty money

Just to clarify, the China U20 team won't be in the league, but will play the team without a game every match week.

Something to do with getting a license from the FA which can only be done if they are financially secure and, similar to england, have a viable stadium.

Seems there's only 19 eligible for this season. Think it was the same last year too.

Just had a wee look at their recent-ish form. In the 2016 U19 AFC Championships (which determined who qualified for the recent U20 world cup) China came last in their group.

Group was topped by Uzbekistan with tajikistan in 2nd. China didn;t score any goals.

So, not the hottest U20 team at the moment.

Seemingly you are not familiar with "The Red Wall" that their fans form.

Just look here at the Asian Championships as a whopping 82 people show up for their crucial group game
