Said it the other day but if he decides he won't sign a new contract then I'd much rather we hold onto him for his last year and let him leave on a free at the end of the season than recoup what, 15mil for him?

Important player for us and towards the end of the season he showed just how good he can be in that number 6 role.

£15m with the prices being bandied about this summer? There's no way the club will choose to lose money and keep him for a year. It doesn't happen. You lose money, keep a player who doesn't want to be there and lose a year in finding a replacement and getting him into the team. Not gonna happen.

He was very good at the end of the season in the deeper position but I don't think he's ready to be making such demands if indeed the reports are true.

All depends on whether he'd kick up a fuss or not. We held onto Suarez for an extra year when he seemed much more adamant about leaving and it worked well for us.

If Can was willing to work hard for one more year and then leave I think that would benefit us more than the money right now. You have an entire year to scout extensively and find the perfect replacement.

Suarez had just signed a new contract. Can would be available for free.

Henderson is reportedly going to be fit to start the season & if that's the case he starts at the base of midfield before anyone. We've then got 2 space just in front if we play the same formation as last season Lallana, Wijnaldum, Coutinho and Can all played there last season.

We are also being linked with signing one or two more Center mids this summer.

If Can signs a new deal then if not then it's up to the gaffer what he wants to do in either sell him or keep him for the last season. We only paid £10m for him!

Going by the numbers I think Can just wants to get paid. Earns a wee bit more than Marko, wee bit less than Ings. He deserves a proper paycheck.

Saying that, I don't see a place for him in the starting 11 unless we play a 4-2-3-1
