Signed a 3 year deal at Fulham, looks like he's staying put then.

See I've long since thought this theory about what league the players play in, is an absolute myth.
I reckon if someone could be bothered to work it out, the signing of strikers from the French, Spanish, Dutch, English and Italian leagues would have a similar ratio of successes to flops.
From lower leagues we have had successful players like Suarez, Bony, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Benteke etc
and from internally in the PL we have had many flops, Carroll, Torres, Bent, Bony (makes both lists).
I think all that matters is: Do they suit the style of the team and do they have the desire.

Hi GG, just see the club announcement about Nike and they let us all know they are the new kit provider (manufacturers as i put it) yet nothing regarding sponsorship.
Why would that be?

They are a bit of both.
They provide and manufacture the kit, but they pay us to wear their product.

5'9 and no real pedigree outside of France would ring alarm bells for me.
If we went for someone 5'9 I would rather it was somebody I knew had PL pedigree such as Hernandez.

That's not being a sponsor though, that's paying us for them to be our kit provider.
Anyway I was just being a bit annoying to GG

'PL pedigree' is the most yer da statement ever, saw that Welsh pundit saying Utd should go for Defoe rather than Morata cos he's 'proven' in PL
You get hits and misses regardless of league. Plenty of 'PL proven' strikers have flopped at larger clubs e.g. Carroll, Benteke, Bent, Bony, Santa Cruz, etc

As long as they are paying the club around £3m a season they can call themselves what they want!
However you look at it, they are sponsors of our kit and AIA are also shirt sponsors!
Just imagine if we actually win anything, value will go up exponentially
Hopefully we will get some news on the naming rights soon, The Nike Stadium has a reasonably good ring to it. Give the club a few hundred million for 10 years rights! Sorted.......

Evening GG
Can't see Nike going for it tbh as it doesn't seem to fit there style. If they wanted a stadium would've gone for a American NFL team.
Although it'll be a decent stadium sponsor if they did

Hernandez won PL titles at the pressure cooker of biggest club in England - I do not think there is better PL pedigree than that.
Of course you get hits and misses signing within leagues, but it would be silly to imply the risk is similar. If you are buying someone who has proven they can perform in England, and have settled in the country, that is a huge amount of risk wiped off

Signing from abroad has these problems:
Will the player suit English football?
If you sign a player from within the league, or one who has played here, you know this already. Plenty have come and been like a fish out of water.
Will the player adjust to the style and pace of the league immediately?
As we have seen with Son and Janssen (possibly) -among many others - this can take time. Signing within a league and this worry is negated.
Will the player and family settle in England?
You have a much better idea if the player is already living in England. London has every niche covered.
Other than those things, there are common worries for both types, such as whether he fits your team's style, or his relationship with the group and coaching team, but without a doubt the risk overall is higher with a player new to the country.
