Didn't take long.

Greetings fellow Ziggers. Just had a quick look on here and noticed were already back in this league.

Hopefully we'll get out this league the right way this time. Another Brentford anyone. Wigan at home last game of season. Stranger things have happened 😀

Was hoping to see the new lad on the wing, but probably saving him as he's not 100% yet. Still need another CB though. Heard Coventry are interested in Williams too.

If Marquis does sign another contract it will be a plus, but we were led to believe that it was more or less in the bag at the start of pre-season when we also expected a PL centre half and a good few other significant signings.

Sadly we are down to "Triallists" - often those players cast adrift who are no clubs are rushing to engage.

On top of that the weakness in defensive strength has got worse with McCullough and Baudry injured long-term again.

One might also question the monitoring of recovery from injury. Last season you might have concluded that both Mandeville and Marosi were perhaps brought back before they were fully fit because they were back in the treatment room more or less straightaway with full recovery long delayed in Mandeville's case. In Baudry's case this time you would not have thought that with proper monitoring they could miss a stress fracture almost adjacent to the site of the Achilles.

We had all those injuries at the start of last season with Etheridge hardly ever properly fit it seems. Is it all just bad luck?

From a practical standpoint, the fact is that unless significant additions are made in the next few days the preseason, supposedly so important for preparation, will have been completed with less than a full squad after the luxury of 4 months in which build one after achieving promotion. "Business" has not been good and from where I am standing it doesn't seem like the best use has been made of the time available.

All in all we seem to be starting 2017/18 no stronger (if stronger at all) than 2016/17. So I am not filled with confidence and am wondering whether the club's ambitions of real progress are somewhat misplaced.

All I can say on the lads who played tonight is get em signed up sharpish. That French lad looks the biz, Taylor at the back looked like he was playing in a testimonial game he was that good. The other lad who came on in the 2nd half, No.14 was like a young Copps. Took on everyone n beat them nearly every time. When him n Copps got together down the right hand side they just tore their defence to bits. Blair could be warming the bench if he does sign as he was outstanding.
