Some people won't ever be excited about the Matic signing so fair enough, but in my job as ja606's main spin doctor I thought I'd try to shine some positivity into this potential deal.
1) Since Mourinho brought him back to Chelsea from Benfica in January 2014, he has made more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the top flight.
2) Yes, he is 28/29 but age doesn't tell the whole story. Matic might be 28, but he’s a young 28. He’s played 352 games; Lukaku has played nearly 320 at 24. As far as I'm aware he hasn't had any major injuries so it's not like he's gonna do a 'Rooney' and wake up burnt out one day soon.
3) He can score goals like this one from a few weeks ago in a huge game...

4) Last season he got 7 assists in the PL.
5) He should hopefully free up Pogba to do his stuff. We have a superstar in Paul Pogba who showed against England just what he can do when he has a DM mopping up behind him. If Matic can get Pogba doing what he does best then he's worth every penny and is just the kind of boring signing we should have made ages ago.
Again, some people will never be convinced but for the more open minded ones out there, I hope some of the positive things on here get people a smidge more excited about this very possible signing.

Because he has played less minutes doesn't make him in anyway a young 28. He will have still done all training, the reserve games, the running that other players have done.
More to do with genetics, he could be finished at 30 or equally could be fine well into his 30s.
