Naby Keita

There are reports emerging that we apparently have an agreement in place with Keita, and that RB Leipzig are resigned to losing him and just want to get as much as they can now. It also seems that we are willing to pay the £70m that has been quoted.

I admit I've never seen the lad play but from what I've heard, he sounds perfect for our midfield and may be that player we need to add a bit of protection in front of the defence.

It sounds like we are currently lurking in the shadows regarding Van Dijk and are just waiting to see if Southampton change their stance. If Chelsea enter negotiations then I imagine we will be back in there like a shot.

Also we seem to be back in for Andy Robertson, as long as Moreno packs his bags.

With the transfer window opening tomorrow, it's going to be very interesting. I can see deadline day this summer being absolutely mental.

He is a relative unknown. A year ago he was playing in Austria. Nobody knew about him until this season.

Mbappe situation is different because he's broken all sorts of records leading an unfancied team to the CL semi final as well as winning what is pretty much a one team league in France

He's hardly an relative unknown when his team have put up a valiant title challenge in Germany which we haven't seen over the last 2/3 years now, would hardly say that he or their side are a nobody anymore.

Keita has comparison's to Kante and is a creative player, but I never mentioned Iniesta. Obviously he isn't going to be an Iniesta or a Kante, but his style is very similar.

Nobody knew about Mbappe 12 months ago. Now he is one of the most sought after prospects in Europe with the massive clubs looking to pay £100m for him. He's just a teenager still. When players impress, they get compared to the great players, just like Keita and Mbappe have this summer and would undoubtedly be excellent signings for anybody this summer, regardless of the inflated prices.

So one is a player being chased by the super clubs, the other is a player going for super club money.

Your argument that Pogba has proved his quality. He hasn't.

How hasn't he proven his quality.

How has he?

As much as Monaco have had a fantastic season in France and in Europe, yes I'd agree that Mbappe will be well known about. But he's not actually broken that many records really.

Not to mention that Leipzig have pushed Bayern for the title in the Bundesliga for 75% of the season, have had all sorts of controversy around them in Europe because of their link with RB Salzburg as well, would hardly say they've been unknown. I think Leipzig and Monaco have both had excellent seasons, but you can't call Keita a relative unknown and then not say that about Mbappe. Just because Mbappe's numbers look better than Keita's doesn't actually mean he's any better than him in their respective positions. Mbappe was unheard of 12 months ago, had an excellent season, now the massive clubs are after him. Keita was unknown 12 months ago, had an excellent season, the big clubs are after him. Very similar.

For the record Keita is a good player with potential to be very good, but Pogba is a very good player with potential to be even better. He's a few classes above Keita.
----------------------------------------------------
What are you a chief scout? Who says Pogba has the potential to be better than Keita? I don't think he does and I don't think Pogba has proven to anybody in the last 12 months that he has done anything to deserve the things people say about how he could be world class.

There shouldn't even be a comparison at this time anyway, Keita hasn't proven anything in the PL yet whereas Pogba has proven that he hasn't really proved the so-called "world class potential" he has in him (yet). Should Keita complete his move to Liverpool, lets make a comparison this time in 12 months and see how they've both looked.

But for Keita himself, exactly what Liverpool need, a better quality midfielder capable of holding and making drives forward and dribbling ability, exactly the type of player Klopp would want. He has good positioning in his CM role and has energy (plenty of it) to press the opposition midfielders as well. When he has the ball, his nimble physique allows him the ability to drive beyond players and create chances. He can be very comparable to Kanté in the respect that he can win the ball back but he also has a creative side to his game as well which will be very useful in the Liverpool midfield I imagine.

Hang on a minute........... don't be coming on here talking common sense.

Keita won't be coming, and neither will Van Dyke.

Balls up by the owners + Klopp to talk to the players first, to get them to prompt a move and save a few million on the transfer fees.

Properly small time.

No I'm not Term..

It's just that the similarities between both failed transfers are so fecking similar, just screams "incompetence" to fail at a major target due to this tapping up is dumb, but twice?

Fecking stupid, idiotic and brainless.

But you're making the same mistake as the usual moaners. Do you think that Henry has been tapping up players, or is it more likely to be an employee of the club?

posted on 9/7/17

No I don't think it's Henry talking to the players, but he must be aware of the tactic of recruiting players in this way.
