A documentary just been on BBC 2 about George Best's life in detail.
A really interesting/up setting watch and lots of interviews from lots of his previous managers in England and the USA and old team mates and wives.
It hits a nerve because my uncle also had a drinking problem like Best.
Can't believe its been 12 years since Best died, if anyone is interested in George Best then it's worth a watch.

Just seen it, temptation was everywhere for him in those early days, he was breaking ground as a footballer with all the advertising stuff, no one to keep him on the straight and narrow so to speak, I know some people will say he was weak and should have been more professional but he was a young bloke with stunning women throwing themselves at him.

Bit disappointed with it actually. All about his personal downfall after the CL win at Wembley in 68. However after Busby retired, under Wilf and Frank he played some of the best football of his life for United (mainly the colour clips you see on Youtube) which wasn't mentioned in the film.
For me as he predicted it's the football not the saga that I will celebrate him for.
Easily our greatest ever player.

I "met" best a few months before he died. His jacket was ripped and he stunk of BO, as his liver was failing. As a kid he was my favourite player, he seemed so small, I couldn't in my head piece together the icon with the man.

Many of the most creative and talented people are also the most troubled.
