Ince you've been gone........

Mixed emotions here for me.Yes,we've probably doubled our investment on Ince, and I don't begrudge him the chance to play in the PL,but and it's a big but, who do we get in place if him and Hughes?

I hope GR is not under the same policy as Clough,i.e to trim the squad and wages.

Moreover it being a marker as to his intention to build HIS team to play his way.

Should be interesting.....

Tom had great talent and he did well enough at Derby. But I think it is time he moved on and he has been a decent investment for the club, price/return wise.

But I have to admit there was a certain attitude problem. He seemed to expect something better for himself and was never a fully committed player - for the team. He wanted the glory of a goal for himself and not for Derby County.

However, he did track back and he did work hard and so he was a very good player for us. We have to see how GR plans to fill the void.

Wow... that song's about as old as the 'Ince Leaves Derby' story.

This "attitude problem", seems to be a constant theme amongst football fans and probably another myth. Almost every talented player is accused of having an attitude problem at any club. In sport it is difficult to hide that you are more talented than those around you and to some that appears as arrogance.

Also I assume it is difficult to keep a level head when you receive excessive praise from agents, the press, the fans etc, so some players may start to believe their own publicity. There are always a few who fit the stereotype.

My main problem with Ince was that he often didn't make the right choices and would carry the ball too far in to places where he couldn't do anything creative so we lost possession. I don't think this was anything to do with attitude. He was improving this part of his game last season but still managed to frustrate fans on numerous occasions.

His making the wrong decision - shooting rather tha passing to a better placed player, can be the manifestation of an attitude problem. On the whole, I admired Ince.

Ince was accused of taking his sell on fee, but he didn't take it to help the move go thro, meaning Derby got more £ from the transfer.
Can anyone remember Harry Kewell's sell on % when he left Leeds for Liverpool. I think it was around 40% Rio ferdinands was similar when he left Leeds.
