So I was discussing with my work colleagues today about a few news reports that Everton may now want 90 MILLION for Lukaku (after the reports of Lukaku joining United for 75 million). And I put forward to them that we United now have that reputation of being absolutely loaded and spend 'almost' anything to sign a player, so naturally clubs can demand a ridiculous fee to us.
I didn't give any of my work colleagues any sort of enthusiasm about the prospect of signing either Morata or Lukaku. I said yeah they're good players, but based on my reaction, I gave the impression to them I wasn't too concerned if we signed them or not.
90 million for Lukaku, really? 75+ Million for Morata, really?
Then as I was scrolling down Sky Sports News, I saw a story somewhere that West Ham might be interested in Chicharito.
Now if I had to pick, 75+ million on Morata or Lukaku, OR about 20 million on Chicharito, then it's a no brainer, Chicharito for a decent sum of 20 million (there or there abouts) alllllll day long.
Don't get me wrong, they're all good players, but one of them knows us, still has a soft spot for us, and absolutely works hard for the team. Plus he'll be 50 million quid cheaper.
I'd be buzzing if we got Chicharito back for a sensible fee, plus Mourinho has stated in the past it was a mistake to let him go.
Chicharito

That ship has sailed. I doubt the pea would come back to be a squad player at this stage of his career. WC coming up, so he needs to be a starter.

He has a release clause for 13 million apparently.
I wouldn't take him though.
Not good enough to play week in week out and as a squad player would only stunt Rashfords development.
No thanks.

My personal choice at end of season was to have Rashford n Martial battle it out for the 9 spot and buy Griezmann to add more goals. Obviously Atletico's ban stopped that happening.

See it'll be hard for us to go after any decent forward if the Lukaku deal breaks down because they'll all want the same fee/price.
Personally like to see us go for Icardi, but I've always said that.
Probably end up paying 60 million for Mandzukic

Icardi is a great shout. But Inter are minted and it would cost even more again for him

There's no way we'd get Chicharito back for £20m.
Even if there was a firm bid from West Ham, the price would double as soon as a call from Manc was connected.

He has a buyout clause of 13 million apparently, so very little Leverkusen could do. Mind you, I remember Suarez having a buyout clause at Liverpool and the club just ignoring it

Icardi is a great player but his chithousery with team mates wives is pretty sure why no other teams have been in for him. Or why he can't get a game for the national side. At the right price could be worth the risk however.

Icardi is a class act he really is and should be in a champions league team. Like others have said though he is an absolute mentalist and should no way be captain of that team.

It wouldn't because there's a buy out clause
