Two instalments of DUFC News in one week, I hear you cry! What a treat!!

Yes it is ladies and gentlemen. Drink it in. Absorb it. This is what it's all about.

So let's get down to business. And that's transfer business.

The big news, and the big shock, is that Cammy Bell is set to move to Kilmarnock. This explains why former Falkirk keeper Deniz played in the recent friendly games and signed yesterday permanently. By all accounts Bell still lives down that way and I've heard various rumours about a clause in his contract allowing him to go and whatever else.

I'm going to assume we'll get some kind of a fee for him, although I'm also hearing rumours we're getting Jamie McDonald for him. If that is the case (big if), I think that's a decent enough exchange as I think McDonald is a good keeper.

It's still a bit of a blow to be losing your keeper just before the first game of the season.

Elsewhere, along with Deniz signing we've also secured the signature of Dutchman Jordie Briels. The midfielder has apparently impressed in a couple of pre-season games and hopefully will do slightly better than his compatriots who in recent years have failed to do much at Tannadice.

Season ticket sales have just about reached the target of 4000 which, given the turmoil, negativity and general hate of Stephen Thompson by large sections of the United support isn't too bad. Apparently many of those who have refused to get season tickets will pay at the gate. I'm not sure how they think that helps the club given that season ticket sales is guaranteed income and helps the club set budgets, but each to their own.

As I say though, Raith tomorrow in the first game of the season and I think I'll recognise about half of our team. Looking forward to seeing what we're about.
