Derby played Chris Martin, David Nugent and Andreas Weimann at the front – by no means the reserves.

The Triallist looked ok and seemed comfortable on the ball but neither he nor the other defenders got close to Keogh when he nodded in an easy header from the centre of the goal, straight from a corner on 13 mins. Derby looked very comfortable and despite lots of running from May and Marquis the only player to get a real sniff of goal was Rowe, who was by far our best player in the first half.
Indeed it was Rowe around the hour mark who took a fabulous pass from Andrew in the area to slot in the equaliser. At this point Ferguson replaced Lawlor with Marosi, took off the Triallist for Butler, moved Mason to replace Wright in the back three, brought on Beestin for Blair, Coppinger for Rowe, Middleton (?) for Whiteman and Mandeville/Williams for May/Marquis. Coppinger (MoM) played like a teenager. He was amazing and Beestin wasn’t far behind, dribbling in from the right wing. Mandeville and Williams both tested the Derby defence. Derby got a penalty late on but Chris Martin blazed it over the bar.
The second half performance was very good indeed. of the new boys Andrew looks like a good signing and Whiteman was both tidy and composed.

Also Just heard that Dic Watson has passed away. Very sad news. Condolences to the family & friends.

I see that our President has died and although I do not have any personal knowledge of him, he together with Terry Bramall have provided financial support for our club motivated seemingly by pure altruism, a quality often totally lacking in modern owners.
I have been critical on occasions of the Board, but since JR left and they recognised DIckov's shortcomings, the have conducted the club's business very effectively. Mr Watson's son carries on the work and we are indebted to his father.
Turning to action on the pitch we do seem to have a continuing problem with unexpected injuries. You wonder whether it is wise to take on another injury-prone CB like Taylor (if he were willing to come). Greer always seemed effective at a time when we had a surfeit of CBs and although at 36 he is near the end of his career, he was a regular for Brighton's successful Championship side whilst there. He was at Blackburn last year and played 21 games and did not get re-signed, so he may or may not still be effective at this level.
Long term, DF probably needs to develop his own defenders and it is a pity that his focus for non-league talent does not seem to extend to picking out promising defenders.

What a good performance to man that was.
Really positive display loads of confidence in the team
Of ths new boys Andrew looked really good.
Special mention for Mason.
Always looking for the ball
Always on hand if a player is in trouble in possession.
Reminds me of a young Ray Wilkins who I saw as a kid and took my eye then.
But things looking good.
I wont even mention who lost possession for their first goal.
