Stewart & Keita

It seems that Kevin Stewart is on his way to Hull for £5.5m, potentially increasing to £8m. Seems like incredibly good money for him, even in this inflated market.

Decent outcome as well I'd say, Hull are a good club who should be around the top end of the Championship and he was never going to make it with us.

Bad news is that we appear to have had a second bid for Keita turned down. Still, at least we're actually talking to the selling club and making bids this time around

Should have asked for Robertson in return

Now I honestly don't know how good or bad Stewart is but if that was Jose binning a youngster to the championship we'd be hearing all about how he doesn't give youth a chance.

He's 23 hardly a youngster

And Klopp gave him about 10 games last year in both the league and cups to stake a claim to a squad place.

Unfortunately he's not quite good enough.

Still reckon he'll have a decent career at championship level, maybe even relegation threatened PL teams.

RB’s owner owner Dietrich Mateschitz has confirmed that the Germans have rejected the bid, even though Keita has a £48m release-clause which becomes active next summer.

“We do not sell players who are still under contract just to make a lot of money,” Mateschitz told German publication Bild, translated by ITV.

“Recently we got a 75 million euro offer for Naby Keita. No way! He still has a contract and he will fulfil it.

“To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust for our fans, but also a wrong sign for our other players, such as Timo Werner, who is also in demand.”

He's 24 I think. Not exactly a youngster.

Either they're lining up Keita as the bad guy here or they're really not going to sell!

You'd think we got some encouragement to go back with a second bid but that statement sounds pretty unequivocal.

I read on Twitter from a guy who is generally decent that Red Bull could be holding out for 80million Euro, currently the largets deal in German league history was KDB to city for €75 and Red Bull are all about looking like big shots so to have a BL recored transfer is appealing to them.

But I've also read from other decent sources that Red Bull just won't sell so who knows.

As for the fee, persoanlly I don't care if we pay 150 million for him once we sign him, Klopp thinks he's boss and that's enough for me.

Happy to see Robertson signing, think it could be a shrewd bit of business, it will look allot better oif we do sign VVD and Keita though.

RB Leipzig stinks of a new money club.

Flashy and a little bit arrogant despite buying success. You can see why they are hated in Germany.

In the Keita situation though they are doing the right thing by the club and I'd hope we do the same if bids come in for Coutinho.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd hardly call it buying success. They've not thrown cash around ala Chelsea, Utd, Bayern etc. Spent a grand total of just under 120M in 7 years on young talent. Transfer record of 12.75M (Keita, and Burke). It's been a very impressive project, and been a success far beyond expectations so far. That's where the hate comes from, sheer jealousy. Everyone hates Bayern too btw. I don't see how that can be interpreted as being flashy or arrogant- Selling 2 of Keita, Forsberg or Werner would mean the project has made a profit just on transfers, never mind anything else. It would be very easy to sell the jewels for a nice fat profit and remain competitive in the Bundesliga, but the board seem to actually want to push on and win things. What's wrong with that? Any club would love to be able to do what RB are doing, they had a vision and executed it superbly. And no, I can't stand Red Bull, disgusting stuff

I think they're hated more for the fact that they are basically just a marketing venture for Red Bull, if I'm not mistaken.

The offical reason is somewhat more complicated than that, to do with the formation of the board and effectively being impossible for fans to be part of it due to the prohibitive cost (RB just played the rules to the letter, hardly anything drastic), but regardless, it's all bs - they just don't like seeing a new club being sucessful. Especially an East German club. There's still a lot of animosity between East and West. Why is there no hatred for Wolfsburg or Leverkusen? - because they've been around forever and aren't particularly successful.
