Not Liverpool related but I found it quite interesting.
I work with a Spanish lad, Seville supporter (he told me when we signed Moreno that he wasn't as good as we thought!) but has a lot of friends in Madrid. Apparently the football talk in Madrid is that neither Utd or Chelsea got the striker they wanted.
So the rumour goes, Mourinho really wanted Morata (rated his all-round game) but Morata's first choice was to go and work with Conte again. Meanwhile Conte really wanted Lukaku back at Chelsea for finishing prowess, he felt the rest of the team would just deliver the chances to him.
Mourinho got fed up with Morata waiting to see if Conte would make a move and knew Lukaku's first choice was Utd so when Chelsea bid, he swooped. Chelsea then went back to Morata.
If true it would mean both players got what they wanted and neither manager did!

Well he works in PR so kind of. Might be total rubbish but has a slight ring of truth to it imo. It is the era of player power after all.

Could be true but seeing Lukaku and Pogba hanging out as best friends shows that I doubt Lukaku retreats the move

I'm sure he doesn't regret it.
If you read the article the very point was that both players got what they wanted. It's just the managers that didn't.

I'd like to hear more his thoughts on Moreno.
This year could be huge for him if Klopp gives him license to push forward like Bale did with Spurs. It could be another 15-20 goals a season

Lukaku wanted to move to Chelsea. But as usual our negotiators took the plss trying to lower the fee. Lukaku got frustrated and got word out to United that he'd be interested in a move and the rest is history.
