Alioski - looks a real player. Going to win an amazing amount of free kicks this season. Knows which way to go and draws the tackles. Great finish with right foot.
Phillips - love this lad and a big season ahead. He has it in his locker and if he can gain the consistency he could become our main central midfielder. Far better range of passing than others, loves a tackle. With the right coaching and confidence he can be star this season.
O'Kane with the monk shackles off looks a decent player. Let the lad play his game
Shaughnessy can be added to the squad as a 4th centre back
Negatives
Defending was poor. Set piece defending especially and a poor error from Jansson for the third.
Saiz was well off the pace of the game.
What we always knew anyway
Green still cannot kick - puts us under so much pressure when 99% of his kicks are chipped straight to the opposition in your own half.
Pablo - remains our most creative player
Dallas is still garbage
Ayling is the best right back at the club, he can't play left back.

I've said in the past, you can get bad players with good and that brings that bit more out off them, at the same time, a bad player could make the good player seem worst than he is!..
The team last year, everybody says it overachieved, so, was it the good players that helped or was it the bad players that held it back?..
Philips was a part off that team, so some say he didn't do as good as wanted, but, neither did the rest, the players that are now around him are a hell off a sight faster and with people,(LIW included!)saying he can pick out a pass, maybe this'll be the perfect setting for him!..
I believe he has something there, it just needs unlocking!..

Phillips also has a habit of being rash in the tackle and giving away silly fouls.

Hes ok is Phillips but hugely inconsistent as umyou get with many youngsters.
My thoughts are that we need better. Anita and Klich would be my starting centre mids if fit.
Vieira and O'Kane as back ups.
Phillips I would look to loan out to a Barnsley/Bristol City type club. If he stands out, would suggest hes progresses.

Agree, Rogan, Pontus has looked off-key since about April. Maybe the nuptials have taken the bite out of his game, but we are going to need him at his best, and fast.

Still weak at the back, we really really need a proper LB.
It's a specialist position and needs a left footer as a basic requirement.

he was definitely a liability last season, had the occasional good half but some of the performances were a complete nightmare. On the flipside, monk liked his central midfielders as a shield for the back 4 and maybe that didn't suit him.
Lack of confidence or lack of ability? Hard to say. Apparently he's had a good pre-season, I'm happy to give him a chance if the coaching team believe in him, but part of being championship ready is consistency, i'd certainly be worried about that if they have him marked as a starter.
