With the season just over a week away, my thoughts turned to the jolly old Derby County Prediction League.
I thought we might spice it up a little this season and introduce a bit of a bonus round to be scored right at the end to keep people on their toes/interested
Last season’s rules were as follows:-
Correct score (eg 3-1, 1-2 etc) = 3 points
Correct outcome but wrong score (W/L/D) = 1 point
1pt per goalscorer, max 3 predictions only = max 3 points
Bonus 2 points for 1st goalscorer
Total possible score 8 points per game
This season, with your permission, I’d like to add another level of scoring to go alongside the old rules
Again, quite simple – predict the finishing table (positions only) and for every team you get bang on, you get 3 points. If you get them within 1 place, you get 1 point. More than that and you get nothing. So, if you got all 24 teams spot on, you’d pick up 72 points. Slightly unlikely that, but it would mean that some of the obvious candidates (eg those who predict a 3-1 defeat every week) might still be in with a shout of taking the title come season end.
Whatd’ya reckon?
I did also think of taking points off for anyone who predicts Chris Martin to score, but that would be churlish of me.

You'll no doubt only add the bonus points to your pals' tallies anyway, you cheating scoundrel.
I was pinning my hopes on Geezer returning to be honest .... Peeder's tardy articles coupled with unerringly inaccurate addition renders the whole 'competition' an exercise in futility.

Why don't you take over running this. You obviously have the time as you are never inconvenienced by going to the game and as you don't have any friends you can't favour them.

The obvious problem with that suggestion is that I don't go to the games, therefore I am wholly dependent on media reports and, as has often been cited by the likes of Spurt and Mapdini, those cannot be relied upon as accurate or to inform regarding the affairs of the team.
Also, giving of my own free time for you bunch of toѕѕers is not high on my list of priorities.
In conclusion then, go fck yourselves.

How about changing it slightly taking in others ideas above.
Correct score = 3 points
correct outcome = 1 point
time of goals pick 1 of 0-15/16-30/31-ht/ht-60/61-75/76-ft/ no goals = 2 points per goal in those sections?
Correct derby league position = 25 points losing 1 or 2 points per position out.
I would drop the correct goalscorer myself.
Add on so many bonus rounds where its double points or give players so many jokers for the season to use?
Finally peeder - put the fixtures up well in advance and not the day of the game.
