Both teams are playing in different stratospheres to most teams. Of course sometimes results don't go their way but with that much talent and pulling power, they can't really fail for too long.

I'd say if he went to Barca and played two thirds of their games he'd still make the Brazil squad for the World Cup, purely on the fact that he'd be good enough to be getting in Barca's team.

Brazil don't have the squad they used to either.

Anything in the ‘rumour’ column is basically made up. Especially if its source is the Spanish sports papers, which have to make things up in order to sustain the enormous quantity of their output.

Normally, if one of the Harlem Globetrotter clubs come in for a player, you resign yourself to them leaving, but Luis Garcia, apparently, claims he wants to stay.

I don’t think newspapers make up direct quotes, but then again, I’ve no idea if Luis Garcia knows Coutinho, so that could be gossip, too....who knows? Who knows even if Barcelona are genuinely interested?

I guess this will just keep being re-cycled until either the season starts with Coutinho still here, or until he leaves. It’ll keep being re-cycled not because there’s been any development in the story, but because it’s classic click-bait.

Doubt the journalists at The Express needed to source the article. They were probably knocking round the office bored when one asked another 'Do you reckon Coutinho would like to play for Barca'.

Apparently, Coutinho doesn't want to be 'just another player' @ Barca.
