Denilson

Why did Wenger play him regularly for about 6 years?

Never put a foot right. Never did anything of note. At least Grimandi decked Simeone. Strange that he played so much and was then released into the wild for zero $$$.

Explanations?

He was always about to get better. Like Welbz, Wilts and Walcott?

Denilson was liked by a lot of fans. He was replaced by Alex Son and when Song first broke through and got a few games I said on I think it ws the old BBC 606 at that time that I wanted to see Song get a run of games as he looked like he had the makings of being a better player. I got slaughtered by the majority of posters on there for claiming he would be better than Denilson.

70 pf them were probably short backwards passes.

Just kidding, as he got older he got more cautious, in the early days he was more like Xhaka is now. Huge weaknesses but a good pass.

He was facking garbage, a pointless failed experiment. So much dross has come through this last decade, most of them are barely playing professionally any more.

One of the few players in our history who left and people didn't massively over rate suddenly

I see memories need refreshing. It's Wenger's fault Denilson didn't fulfil his early promise to become the next Gilberto. He broke him

Can't remember who we played bit the 1st half was especially shocking and Wenger lost it with the team in the dressing room. Not known for blowing his stack, it must have shook Denilson up badly. We won the game but he never got his confidence back after that and went downhill.

It's a shame he was such a putty tat. Had he manned up, took his roasting and pressed on like the others then there are teams since who might have had a good half-time roasting when they needed it. He's not blown a gasket at them since I don't think.
