No premiership club could keep a player if Barca or madrid wanted them. No premiership club is at that level.

Ah, now I understand why United sold DDG to ... Oh Wait.

He did want to go there though

He probably has more respect for Liverpool than coming out and saying he wants to leave. Happened with Walker. If Coutinho wants to go I'm sure he would want it to happen without too much fuss.

Hes stated on numerous occassions he and his family are settled and happy in Liverpool. No doubt he'd agree to join Barca but i don't believe he will force it.
Barca will have to come in with a bid that i'd expect uses up most of that 200m Neymar money. But im not entirely sure Coutinho was Barcas top target in the first place let alone a direct Neymar replacement, more of a soft bid they knew would be rejected to see if it keeps Neymar happy.

Klopp needs to stay firm and keep saying no. As long as we can stay in the Champions League we've no reason to sell him.

How cane Sky Sports say he wants to move yet he hasn't actually said anything? They just make stuff up just to keep some of their anchor men in a job on that transfer centre rubbish.

He probably does want to leave tbh. Doesn't mean we should let him. Not this season at least.

This information is likely to be leaked by his agent.

According to good few Lpool fans he is happy, settled in Lpool etc...so why his agent would say opposite to what he has said or think about his club? Sure he should change his agent?

Coutinho stated in January he wasn't thinking of Spain and was committed to Liverpool. Barca want him now and if they pay the money he will no doubt go as he wants to play there and our owners are business men and want the money.

I just have a feeling he will stay until next summer and then sign for PSG to be with his Brazilian mates

100% with you, T Bone, and it's not just wishful thinking. The Mirror had one a no-nonsense article, 'weaintsellingdofekoffandshoveyermoneysideway' from LFC.

Next summer? Well, it gives Jurgen and his crew time to identify another gem, so, Couts can go then.

But not before. Five days before kick off? Madness even to think about it.

I will say this though. I now strongly suspect that VvD will be an LFC player, but Soton will keep him for as long as possible, letting him go not far short of the 31st.

That's a real fear. He will need time to get fit, bed in, etc. And they will charge top dollar.

Is there any good news on the horizon?

==========================================================

“Happy and settled” is not the opposite of “would like to join Barca but wouldn’t force it”

The opposite of “happy and settled” is “unhappy and unsettled”, and there’s been no sign of that.

Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao. However, manager Jurgen Klopp said this was not the case, “Phil had back problems yesterday and today so there was no reason for any risks,” he said.

Is that bad back from packing up his settled family in anticipation of his move?
