Issue I have is what have we done to have this level of expectatin at the club?

We've not won a thing since 2007, we've had the odd Champions League run, cup run but nothing to suggest that we're a massive club that should sign players every window like Real, Barca, PSG, Chelsea

We have a decent first 11 that will compete, just because other teams around us have spent £100million plus there is no need to panic, we've not even kicked a ball and there's mass meltdown from so many fans

Just chill, see how we get on, last two seasons have been great and in my opinion I'd rather keep a group of players together and not change massively, Everton will struggle for me, I think they're no way will damage the top 6

To be fair we've finished 3rd and 2nd which has raised expectations, finishing above all of the 'big 6' at least once and in some cases twice.

Nobody - well very few of us - here are saying we should try and spend £150m to try and win the treble or something, just that in spite of the fact that we've done pretty well in the league over the last couple of years without actually winning the league despite accumulating more points, goals, wins etc than anyone in that time, it's been offset somewhat by our disappointing showings in the cups.

Discounting wage demands and existing wages we could conceivably make a minimum of £70m this window from the sales of Bentaleb, Fazio and Walker. So even discounting any transfer budget we'd allocated ourselves a few months ago we could have been looking at spending £70m on a new RB, AM and CB to enhance the squad. That doesn't sound like unreasonable sums or expectations to me.

I'm not aware of every single transfer that takes place in European football nor am I aware of the contract situation and asking price of all players across Europe, but if our scouts are unable to find 3 players anywhere across Europe who we could pursue then there's something seriously wrong with them.

All summer it's been the ongoing Barkley thing dragging on without actually making a bid for him or anyone else it seems, as well as the worst-kept secret that we'd sell Walker, yet again there appears to have been no bid made whatsoever for a replacement, just tenuous links in the papers. Why can't we just be proactive and actively pursue players? Why are we sitting back hoping that all the dominoes will fall into place and the stars will align for us in the remaining 17 days of the window? We're not at the bottom of the footballing food chain so why do we act like it?

As I said elsewhere:

1. Spurs target Toljan valued at £13m (even more likely given Trippier's injury, and he is much better than KPW)
2. Giovanni Simeone (Striker, son of Argentine Diego Simeone, well known to Poch)
3. Ross Barkley (really just a "maybe", wages and attitude both problems, moving towards MU but could still be in the works)
4. Juan Foyth at 8mGBP is a bargain, but Toljan is better at 13m. Could go for both.
5. Antonio Valencia from MU - a wild card that one!
6. Juan Mata .... well there's more talk in the wind
7. Lucas Ocampos, Argentine forward currently at Marseille, has been around the clubs, Genoa, AC Milan, started at River Plate, still only 23. Very good at Bicycle kicks. Swap for Janssen rumor in the works.
8. Joao Cancelo, yes we've all heard this one - personally I think he's too small for Premier rough stuff, weighs only 159 pounds.

Looking like Rose is not happy. Apparently a interview with him released tomorrow.

Yep my mate has just sent me some of the quotes, if he has said that then I can't disagree with him. We're sitting back waiting for things to happen rather than trying to make them happen, hoping players are just handed to us for a pittance
