There doesn't seem to be many fixtures that could throw up a shock this weekend, if any.

First game of the season is always a little unpredictable IMO simply because you don't know whether all teams are up to speed and most are trying to integrate new players.

The only thing I'd bank on is newly promoted teams getting humped!

There's always one newly promoted team that has a shock result in the first few weeks IMO. Being new to the league they up their game.

Huddersfield have an outside chance of an upset, though it's unlikely. Brighton and Newcastle aren't good enough to upset City or Spurs.

Actually think Rafa's Newcastle will win. Didn't they beat Spurs 6-0 or something odd like that in their relegation season.

Palace have a really threadbare squad, so Huddersfield could be in with a good chance of getting a result.

Brighton will get humped, but Newcastle at St James' should put up a fight. Spurs, and Kane especially, haven't got off to flyers in recent seasons either.

12:30 kick offs have a habit of throwing up a bit of a shock - and with one eye on a CL qualifier and the Coutinho distraction - Liverpool could be in for a shock. Expect them to win, but that is one I wouldn't bet on. The corresponding fixture last season was Hull beating champions Leicester despite only having a squad of 12 or something and a newly departed boss.

Hate the idea of Arsenal starting Friday night, and can see a similar game to last seasons early season fixture against Leicester.

Arsenal 1-1 Leicester

Palace 1-1 Huddersfield
Everton 0-0 Stoke
Southampton 1-0 Swansea
