Title Challenge?

So, which teams supporters are expecting THEIR team to challenge for the Premier League title?

Not necessarily win it, but challenge for it; that means for me near or at the top most of the season. IF we could get honest answers and more importantly WHY you think you will challenge? I will start, so Liverpool:

YES i think we will challenge. Why? Squad is much better now, we have the likes of Solanke, Robertson, Flanagan, Ings, Gomez, Salah either new or returned from big injuries, all have been in training and look to be up to speed. They may not be the biggest names but in truth they dont need to be, early cup rounds and a few small changes on match day we should be fine. Still have the likes of Origi, Can, Klavan, Sturridge to come in from the bench as well.

Klopps second season, and a big pre season as well, dont underestimate how crucial pre season is esp to the tactics Klopp uses, this will help masssively this season.

Also, the team shape has had more time to close those gaps that led to so many goals last season, pre season has seen 4 clean sheets from 8 and we have been much better in defence as a team.

I am expecting a huge season from us, really am

You'll struggle without experienced quality full backs and at least one centre half who isn't shiiiit.

Time for cheque book Jurgen to get the Mont Blanc out again.

Fecking hell. Rest of the league may as well give up.

Keep our important players fitter for longer than we did last season, then we will challenge for top 4, and hopefully win a trophy.
Between Chelsea and City for the title, with Spurs, Liverpool, United and probably Arsenal scrapping for the other two top 4 slots.

I don't expect a title challenge. Not one that's realistic when it comes down to the final 5 games anyway.

I'd say for Liverpool I'd be happy with top 4, getting into the knock out rounds of the CL and a much improved showing in the domestic cups. Ideally a FA cup win.

Our defence is likely to be too flakey for a title challenge.

In GBs defence (what am I saying) i think his overarching point isn't too bad but the way he's put it doesn't help. Salah aside none of those named players will improve out first 11 or strike fear into opposition teams. But out problem last season was lack of depth and losing mane for that chunk of time. Both those have been addressed so far. We are certainly not favourites to be up there but we could well be in the mix if injuries go our way (we are possibly more dependent on this than some of the others)

Don't underestimate the power of NOT buying many players. Consistency of a team can be more beneficial than any new player. Think Tottenham will benefit from this massively too.

Salah is a fine addition and helps resolve some of the issue's we had last season, namely width and pace out wide to break teams down. We were very narrow at times and to some extent teams worked us out. Klopp playing the diamond helped resolve this late in the season, but having another direct flyer will help immensely.

The issue which hasn't been addressed is the centre of our defence. Matip and Lovren form a decent enough partnership, but it's not a title contesting one for such a key area, especially when you consider that we have Klaven and the inexperienced Gomez as backup.

We desperately need a new CB. We've weakened that area if anything with Lucas moving on. A new CB is a must. VVD would be perfect. If (and it's a huge if) we sign him, I will feel that a title bid isn't just fantasy. Otherwise it's a top 4 battle and hopefully a good run in a domestic cup competition.
