After all the Don_Tottenham meltdowns over the last week about the lack of transfer activity you get a gem like Kyle Walker-Peters make his Premier League debut, get man of the match and have a solid game at right back.
Shows that the club know exactly what they're doing and trust the academy to step up when needed, we had Kane, Winks, Carter-Vickers and Walker-Peters in the squad against Newcastle that have come through the youth system
Of course in bigger games KWP might get found out, but games like Newcastle, Swansea, Brighton, Stoke he'll be ideal to play in.
We still need one or two more solid signings in Barkley and Sanchez, but things are going in the right direction
Perfect time to play Chelsea this weekend as they're without Costa, Hazard, Cahill, Fabregas

I play 4-1-2-2-1 on my Sunday youth team
We don't zonal mark but have one player on the front post to cover the rest pick up and the keeper is aggressive on corners and set pieces to attack the ball
No goals conceded to date.

Also it takes up the majority of your time drilling defenders how to mark zonally, it's easier to have man to man training

Does it fack.
Plus any zonal marking isn't how you view it.
In the instances of both Liverpool and Arsenal there are people covering 'blocks' and a few marking the runners. Both Liverpool and Arsenal's faults werent with the system but with the personel who aren't adept at defending corners whatever the system.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As a football coach I can assure you this that on all my courses the FA coaches are against zonal marking
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh my cringe
Firstly did either of the managers actually coach Zonal like you suggested:

The zonal marking is a goal waiting to happen, I have no idea why teams do it"
Both did hybrid coaches.
Secondly Ian Dowie, is the only manager to implement a fully zonal system and I believe he actually had success with it at Southampton.

I Defo think KWP will work in the team. Whereas CCV looks a liability every time he plays. If ever a player needs a loan it's him

English football was unfortunate to have two men in charge of the English FA in Allen Wade and Charles Hughes, men who had little understanding of the game of football and who used analytical judgements to create a philosophy of how English football should be played.
Both men dismissed teams who kept possession of the ball, believing they were playing the ‘wrong way’. As well as this they were not keen about players who possessed any kind of skill or creativity and believed in ‘functional’ players. This philosophy ruined English football for decades.
While Brazil, Holland and Argentina were winning trophies and developing players and teams who played with craft and skill, English football was becoming more barbaric and archaic. This was highlighted most in the early 1990’s under Graham Taylor, a major proponent of the Wade/Hughes philosophy.
Imagine the amount of English coaches who attended the FA courses between the 70’s and 90’s and the mentality they were being taught. It has been extremely difficult to change something which was so ingrained in our national game for so long. Of course the FA did not think to learn from Shankly, Paisley or Clough who were proving that keeping the ball on the floor was a successful style of playing the game.
Howard Wilkinson saw the errors of the FA and in 1997 sought to change things with his Charter for Quality. It made a change yet it was not the development of a national playing style, more an open invitation for the professional clubs to setup their own academies and develop players as they wished.

They've changed again and it's a different focus, only recently implemented this last year

Yesterday didn't show anything. Up against extremely limited and negative opponents.
