An Important Change......

Since the days of GSI, the most important change we have experienced - for good or bad - has been the close proximity of our financier. GSI were quite principled and did us a lot of good, improved our general admin and instilled the necessary financial prudence. And you can't blame them for hoping that Derby County back in the PFL would yield them a good few $millions. After all that is the name of their game.

So they banked us and allowed Nigel, with the necessary patience, to use his undoubted re-building skills to solve many of the nasty problems Billy and Paul had bequeathed. I shudder just to think of them.

The inevitable effect of Mel (may his tribe increase) being so close-by, seems to be that the Manager has to defer to his chairman in many of the decisions that have to be made, whether in team selection, transfers in and out or coaching methodology. I believe it is this difference that has caused the relative instability we have experienced in recent years.

So - both Mel and Gary need to sit down and clearly identify those matters which are purely Gary's and those that are purely Mel's and a few in between that they need to debate and agree on. And there should be a big shift of topics away from Mel and into the ambit if GR. IMHO this would definitely improve our performances and help avoid the overstaffing that created too much internal friction last season.

Spart I can recommend Porto down by the river, there are some very nice bars and restaurants with some street entertainment.

I wouldn't fancy the walk north though, I'm more in tune with 666 although I don't go all inclusive because I drink and eat too much. I like B&B and go out up town for my evening meal.

I like all inclusive precisely because I drink and eat too much.

All inclusive in Belek, Turkey appeals; lie in the sun all day, with the most strenuous activity being clicking my fingers at the serving monkeys.

Nice attitude. Hopefully one of them will gob in your Efes

I've got money and if I want to pay for someone to bring me drinks, and they're happy to do so, then what's the problem?
If they think they're better than that or object to my demands then they should have listened at school.

Bragging about going on holiday to Turkey is like boasting you've got crabs.

Well I'm not going on holiday but I do have crabs.

Two. And a lobster from the nice people in the holiday home......
