Very suspicious that we have signed at a cost to us that is unheard of in the Levy camp of more than £40 million?
This smells a bit.
Alderweireld hasn't signed a new contract - but then signing a new one means "JACK" these days.
Ask Coutinho and Walker!
City are sniffing around like the glory buyers they are.
I hope I am wrong.
Love Toby and I am sure Sanchez would become a top player under Pochettino
Did we just sign the new Toby?

At 21 years of age, and Verts and Aldy, 30 and 28 respectively, it makes sense to bring in a young, fairly established defender at this point, even if neither our 2 first choice CBs were leaving in the near future. I mean he'll get games. But the club must feel that with Walker having left, Rose feeling disillusioned, and the other 2 at the ages they are and with Aldy not signing a contract yet, we're always vulnerable to losing one.
If we don't win anything this season or even if we do, it will be hard to hold on to both Vert and Aldy going into the new stadium.

We will almost certainly pay no where £40m for him, it is £28m with potentially another £12m in add ons.
If we end up paying the extra then it will mean we have been very successful, with likely trophies and CL qualification, so it is a win win situation in that regard.

If Ribena did centre backs...

Maybe this particular transfer has had me in paranoia a bit....What with City and United all with money on tap and looking for better players and Spurs having the best squad two years running now...It can make one a bit paranoid!
Hope not.
Maybe in due time, Davies will be dropped to the bench with Verts playing there and Sanchez along Toby
Though Sanchez could play alongside Wanyama and Dembele, when we need strength in the middle in CL

Really? Don't you remember how he was turned inside out by the Algerians during the World cup?
Lucky for him, his team mate were of a different quality

No I don't remember I remember him lifting the trophy though. Also lifted a few trophies with Arsenal.

I don't feel paranoid.
He slots into a back 3 and Dier is used as a CM more often.

Dier isn't good enough as a CM.
The signing indicates we could be using mainly 4 at the back.
