Obsessed? Certainly.

I just don’t get this thing with the Bears and their thinking that calling us ‘obsessed’ is somehow an insult? What are they thinking of? Did they think for one minute that we wouldn’t snigger, laugh and guffaw at their on-going misfortunes? That we would not want to read even more about them for the sheer schadenfreude of it all?


Well I have a confession to make, I am obsessed. This ongoing-slow-motion-ever-giving-train-crash-that-was-and-is-the-recent-history-of-our-oldest-rivals grips me constantly: my daily scouring of the fans’ websites where their internal meltdowns, arguments, accusations and frustrations are laid bare, the endless searching of newspapers articles to read the next big gawd-almighty-feck-up from their fan(s), player(s), manager, the cringe-worthy phone-ins not to mention their constant statements and pure-rid-face embarrassing petitions. The certainty as a Celtic fan of knowing, that regardless of what any cretin in a Celtic strip does, those actions will swiftly become tomorrow’s chip-papers as they overshadowed almost immediately by yet another trumpet of the blue persuasion, or one more of their unmitigated PR disasters or by just being embarrassed yet again by their football performances. Their continuous conveyor belt of yet more bad news for them has become a certainty of almost Trump-esque proportion.

Yes I am utterly obsessed, obsessed by this seemingly never-ending-ever-giving-journey. And I have thoroughly enjoyed it and here are some of my favourite memories of the said journey’. Undoubtedly you will have your own...

From the ‘March on Hampden’ to the sponsored walk around Ibrox
From David Murray to Dave King (not forgetting all the other rascapalians in-between)
From Sir Walter and Dignity to Caixinha and Petitions
From one court case to another court case
From the Scottish Cup semi-final to the Scottish Cup Final – thus ending 100 years of inglorious Hibs history
From beating Celtic to their fans cheering and applauding and getting all sweaty, worked-up and moist as they ‘won’ a throw-in against Celtic
From 5-1 to 1-5
From ‘Going for 55’ to Progres
From being 5 points behind after three games to Niko Kranjar reckoning Rangers can lose all four Old Firm games and still challenge for the title this season.

Obsessed? Yes! But then there is a lot to be obsessed about.
