Was at Wembley - my take

Was at Wembley yesterday and thought we were miles the better team. The only team who went all out to win that game was Spurs but once again like the cup semi final, we end up getting hit by sucker punch of goals that come out of nowhere. Why do we keep shooting ourselves in the foot particularly against Chelsea? The free kick you can't do much about but after finally getting back in the game ( with a bit of fortune but deserved) we then go on to make a horrendous mistake for them bas*** to once again laugh at us. Every f**** season we create new ways for others, especially Chelsea to wind us up because of our stupidity on the field.

Sorry but this Wembley is awful and it just doesn't feel like a home game. We would of smashed Chelsea to pieces at white hart lane had we performed like that. The atmosphere cranked up superbly for 5 minutes after we scored and in spurts was good, but it's just such a soulless place. It's not even Spurs fans fault as I think any club going there won't generate an atmosphere. The pitch is to far from the stands and as it's such a huge stadium, you get a mixture of normal Spurs supporters and fairweather fans from the likes of China mixing together. It's not like the lane and our new stadium where we have the hardcore fanbase comgregating in one bit. This is what causes an atmosphere and Wembley is a load of s***.

If we don't combat this clear issue we have at Wembley then we are going to finish close to midtable and that's not an exaggeration either. It almost feels like we are playing away every "home " game it's ridiculous. No problem with our performance yesterday, it was brilliant but once again we come away feeling like rubbish and on the losing side to what was an average Chelsea performance. They literally did nothing but somehow come away with the 3 points.

The other problem is our squad depth which is what I have been bleating on about for over 2 f*** years!!!!! What can we do when we bring Sissoko on to try and change the game? Son is our only real option on that bench that is more than likely to change the outcome of a game. How is that good enough to have 1 proper attacking option on our bench ? We all knew the squad wasn't good enough and once again we start the season unprepared. Had we made some signings early, we could of had options on that bench to have changed the outcome of that game. We were clearly on top all game so it just needed a fresh face to come on the field and make a difference. Went away from Wembley really annoyed because once again our performance didn't reflect on the result but that's again the fault of our own:

Kane missing a clear cut opportunity to put the ball in the net didn't help. 2nd game running he's hit the woodwork, needs to find his shooting boots.

Hardly a clear-cut opportunity. He did well to create something from that angle under that defensive pressure.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes that is a pretty clear cut oppurtunity for someone with his shooting ability. Less than 12 yards out with an angle to find the corner, should be scoring.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If he scored, it would have been a good goal. You were making it out like he missed some gilt-edged opportunity. I never thought Kane would score in that incident and was astounded when he cut in and created space for the shot, beat Courtois from that angle, and the ball came off the post. He did fantastically well. Watch Welbeck for Arsenal for examples of clear-cut chances missed.

Kane is exceptionally good at getting shots off in situations where defenders would normally block it. HIs best asset and what makes him one of the best strikers in the world.

Burnley has signed Chris Wood, so I look forward to him scoring against us next game.

Nick , I didn't watch a different game I was there. Even all the pundits are saying how better Spurs were. Look it means nothing because you come away with the 3 points but Spurs were by far the better side yesterday
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Amazing isn't it. Spurs were the better side yesterday, they were the better side in the semi final and they were the better side at SB yet they lost all three games. Must be a coincidence I guess, unless, no it couldn't be could it? Your criteria for evaluating football matches is flawed?

To be fair, when Chelsea actually came out to play like they did at WHL last season, they got absolutely battered. I think Spurs maybe should take a leaf out of Chelsea and other defensively mind set-ups, don`t go all gung ho from the off. Put 10 men behind the ball against the better side from time to time and see if they can be broken down. Chelsea yesterday were basically playing on the break, and maybe that is a tactic Spurs should start to employ. Having all the possession is meaningless if their is no end product.

At home we pretty much dominate everyone. Away from home, probably only Utd, City and Liverpool managed to dominate us.
Just need a bit more nouse and cutting edge at times

It is bizarre how we regularly dominate Cheatski and somehow manage to lose the game we should win comfortably. They really are a bogey team for us.

Yet the reverse never seems to happen to Spurs, I can not remember a single game where we have somehow managed to win despite being comfortably second best.

Cheatski do know how to win ugly though (something Spurs need to learn to do), they are clever at using gamesmanship to see out games, they feign injury and time waste, they over react and dive around. Our players do not do this, on the whole they play it straight, maybe they should learn a trick or two from Cheatski.

Completely agree Billy. I also cannot remember us being dominated and us winning, against any of the top sides let alone Chelsea. We either play brilliantly and win, or we play well and lose, or badly and lose

Bit of luck and maybe a clever dive, when Kane got tripped by Rudiger, is the difference between the sides.

Look at how Luiz went down for their first goal

Remember Moses diving seeing Son sticking his leg out

Also, they seem to have this edgy state against us, like sh1tting bricks and try shots from anywhere so long it goes in.

Second half we played nearly all of it in their half, and they kept hoofing to Morata and Willen.

They played like a championship side would play us

The diff they do have quality, which they paid over the odds for.

On another, honestly, their battered soul would have crumbled

They celebrated the win so much, the dvd is probably due out soon
