My thoughts

Hello my good people, just been mega busy in Spain helping my mum move out there (DIY is my enemy) and now I have a permanent holiday home on the med. Have some fun with that Cosmic Trigger.

Here are some thoughts on the season so far.

1) Pogba

He is now the heart of our side and has started the season off brilliantly. Most of us expected that it might be the second season after a summer break when he clicks and now he's every bit the player we hoped he would be. Love watching him on the ball. Best ball playing CM outside of Real Madrid.

2) Rashford

People might not appreciate what he does in the game. He's been running defenders ragged for 70/80 minutes and when Martial comes on the defenders have been softened up. Long may this continue. I'd pick the same side against Leicester and I'm sure Martial will get games soon. I can see him (Martial) starting in the CL group games.
On a side note, did anyone see where Jose revealed that Rashford had a serious-ish back problem last season related to growing pains? That's probably why his season wasn't as good as hoped. He's obviously hit the gym over the summer and looks sharp and bigger than before. Lay off his finishing. It will come in time.

3) Micky

I'm sure people have slated him this season for being invisible in games even though he's 3 assists away from matching the most assists Coutinho has ever gotten in a season 😂
My theory is that the majority of people on here never watched him for Dortmund and just saw the stats. So they thought he has to be better than this. Maybe this is his game. Just be on the fringes of games and then BOOM, here is an assist. No issues at all if he keeps producing.

4) Matic

I was slated by all and sundry when I supported his signing but I see now very few are doubters. He probably just needed a new challenge. What does he give us that Carrick didn't? He wins the ball further up the pitch and allows us to start attacks far closer to the opposition goal. Great signing and in some ways reminiscent of the Cantona signing in 1992. A rival side who just won the league selling us a player who I doubt they should have.

5) Fellaini

No doubt his appearances have been slated by the braintrust on the match threads but when he's come on in games he's sat deep and allowed Pogba to push even more forward and become almost a second striker. He's (Pogba) scored two goals in two games from that so I don't see any problems with that tactic.

6) Title challenge

I have no doubt in my mind we can challenge for the title this season. Will we win it? Who knows but I think we have as good a chance as anyone. Best GK in the league. We have he best defence in the league (more clean sheets than Spurs in 2017) and a very good midfield. And Lukaku imo will win the golden boot this season. So all of that points to a title challenge. City will push us all the way Imo. I know people point to the fact we won our first 3 games last season and finished 6th but we are not that side from last season. It's obvious to see we are more of a real deal. We're not perfect and I can see someone like City giving us massive issues but as long as we steamroll the smaller sides I don't think losing the odd big game will be a setback.


Anywho, great start to the season and we now have a side who have a mix of pace, skill and strength. Shame on Busby for saying we are the new Stoke. He never did get over us sacking his man LVG and can't admit we have upgraded. Stoke? Nah, more like the Arsenal or Chelsea sides of the mid 2000s.
