Very frustrating and anxious second leg performance from Celtic tonight
It was refreshing to hear BR say after the game that he thought our defending was poor as was our distribution. What I translate that into is as follows:-
Gordon is a great shot stopper but his kicking distribution only reaches a Celtic player 1/10
Lustig is well past his best and cannot cope with the pace of young fast attackers. I think he should be benched against fast teams.
Bitton is NOT a defender and is also not good enough as a midfielder. We should punt him asap.
Ajer is a decent prospect but is too young and inexperienced to pitch into a CL game. Poor choice by BR to put him there.
Teirney is a star but was caught out a few times tonight by better quality players.
Brown was battered all over the pitch and did not have a great game. His mistake led to their second goal though tbf, the pass he got from Bitton was a shocker.
Forrest tried hard but made little impact. He is a good player at times but tonight wasn't one of his best games.
McGregor - same as Forrest
Nt'Cham - our motm by a country mile. Oozed class all night and is a real find for us
Sinclair - scored a great goal but squandered two easier chances. He needs to get better at taking his chances.
Griffiths - hardly got a touch and when he had a great chance he blootered it over the bar. This is not good enough for the CL. His free kick was good and he took his goal well.
Good news is that we will have Paddy Roberts and Rivaldo joining us soon plus we have Boyata and Moussa to come back from injury. Plus we have Jozzo to come back.
In summary, we can go into the CL group stages with a bit more confidence if BR has the best players available. HH 🍀👍

Btw-there was nothing wrong with the pass to Brown. He just made a meal of it. Bitton was on the left touchline waiting on it.

Left touchline?
Forgot he was playing as a winger tonight
Just shows you he's a total useless, headless donke

"I felt that, naturally, we can defend much better than that."
"Across the whole campaign, I've had midfield players playing at centre-half, midfield players playing as strikers, right-backs playing at centre-half so the players have been absolutely magnificent.
"It's another good learning game for us. We would want to be better than that."
Let's not go too full on with the inquests guys - we're through and that's all that really matters. The guys who played badly tonight were the same ones who did so well last week, notwithstanding Oli and Scotty who played well both weeks ,

Where was our left back for 2 of our goals?

Trying to play left back, left wing and left CB all at the same time

Looking through the posts by Tims on this thread you'd have thought we had been knocked out, instead of winning the play off by 4 clear goals

If he'd been where he should have, Bitton would have been standing on his toes.
I get Bitton isn't a great player, but if you can look beyond the dislike for him, we had many faults and Bitton was only one.
As it is, I'm not fussed. We went through which was the main aim. I doubt we'll see us ever play 2 midfielders at CH again.

It's not just what Bitton did, it's what he didn't do too.

Pov The guy is a midfielder and did his best out of position - there were several players in their natural positions tonight who played badly

Bitton was a factor in the defeat tonight, but he wasn't the cause. He's back up at best for that position, and if he is to play there again then he needs a true CH beside him to help guide him. Same as Ajer.
