Aaron Ramsey the conundrum

When watching Wales play Austria on Saturday night I could not help but notice just how well Aaron Ramsey played, he was everywhere.

Now I know he gets a lot of hate on here and on other social media from Arsenal fans, but I would like to know why ?

During all Wales's games I have seen him play he has been key. When he is not in the Welsh team, we struggle, as the semi final in the Euro's showed. What is the difference when he plays for Arsenal ? He is awesome for Wales.

Is it a coaching thing ? It cannot be better players, man for man Wales do not possess better players than Arsenal. Does Arsene Wenger play to his strengths ?

There must be something seriously wrong if a player can be so good for one side and so poor for another at the same time, and for me it must be down to the coaching staff. Arsenal need to start playing to the strengths of their players, push Aaron Ramsey further forward and you will see what a gem you have.

2 FA Cup winning goals. 5 times as many tackles as Xhaka this season.

Its down to wenger. PLayers like Ramsey and Ozil dont become bad whe they play for us, they do a job in a team and position they have been asked to do. Ramsey is a good player, contrary to popular belief. He is just being used badly and fans expect too much from him. I dont often saythat about a player but he is expected to stay back and defend and help the attack.. Whenever he does the job he is given and less of the other he gets stick for not doing enough. He is a utility player that can help out all over the pitch and I think at one time or another has played every position for Arsenal except CB and CF.

If Wenger set up a team to use players in their strongest position and formation that works well for all the players in the team we would be title winners. But instead he sets up the team in formations that he likes, shoehorns players into it in unnatural roles and gets away with it because fans who dont know any better blame the players. Everyone loses.

This is pretty fair, although Ramsey doesn't do himself any favours when he does stuff like he did against Liverpool for whichever goal it was when he was halfway across the pitch looking the wrong way..

That was a low point for him, cant argue with that. He obviously wanted to get a point across to Ox, maybe something like "You still play for us for facking traitor, act like it". He clearly wasnt happy. The ball was given away cheaply again. and I can understand why he didnt expect us to lose the ball like that, but it doesnt excuse him.

Already done an article with this link, but I agree with what Ramsey is credited with in this.

"Ozil runs around a lot and does nothing aswell"

Yep. Playing with noobs does tend to do that with good players.
Have a look at how he rips ish apart when he plays for Germany.

Ozil and Ramsey both excellent tonight,as always. This also happened with Arshavin, around the time the baying mob on here were calling him lazy etc as well! For his country he was stunning.
Playing great players out of position and with bad tactics will have this effect.
It's not rocket science, but dumb fans will blame the player every time.
If you put Lewis Hamilton is a Citroen C5, see how many races he wins! Doesn't mean he has forgotten how to drive though, does it?

Spot on
Just look at the set up of the team this season. Bellerin playing left back / left wing. Playing Ox just before selling him to Liverpool, benching your record signing laughable. Wenger doesn't seem to have a clue any more and I think the players no longer have any faith in him

The problem for me is that Wenger believes too much in the Cruyff's philosophy of total football without understanding that total football is also about discipline and a knowledge of positioning. Pep was very critical of Cesc. You could see that in Walcott, Oxo, Ramsey, Bellerin, Gibbs. All our younger players who have grown up under Wenger suffer from this. Sometimes this is a positive in strikers. But for midfield players and especially defenders it is a terrible deficiency.

Which is why I so wanted Allegri at Arsenal. We need that desperately in the team and instilled in players.
