Oxlade-Chamberlain

How do you think Klopp is going to use him?

I see him being used in rotation with Henderson, Salah and Mane who will obviously be our first choice starters however after tricky away matches in Europe to places like Russia he will probably be the guy who starts in the PL first team after those kind of games.

I imagine he will start our domestic cup games every time and will jump into the "strongest first team" should any of the three be injured or used in rotation with others in the midfield or front three when the domestic scedual gets tough..

I don't think he will come in right away until he is accustomed to playing the Klopp way of football but will be a useful addition to make our squad stronger..

What does everyone else think?

Judging by tonight.....not very often.

Yeah because judging players for club football with how they play for England is always a good barometer.

Clyne hasn't been named in the champions league squad so it looks like he's out for a while.

AOC will be needed for the right side for a bit.

having watched the ox closely since he signed I am not convinced,i mean can someone offer some reassurance that he is worth 40 odd million?

He'll add more depth to our squad and will probably mostly only be starting in the domestic cup games. Don't see him being good enough to establish himself as a regular in the 1st team. I could be wrong though. He did have some performances at Arsenal which showed real promise. They just didn't occur often enough.

No assurances required, he's 'currently' not worth £25m let alone £40m.

If Klopp can work his magic then he will be worth upwards of £80m in a couple of years though.

Weird signing for me this one.
I have never really rated Ox, and 40 mil seems awfully steep... we already have plenty of home grown players, so why did we bother paying the extra it always costs to sign an Englishman?

Am keen to see what Klopp does with Ox, as he must see something that I haven't.

Think we are all panicking over how poor he was for England. He is a pretty average winger even at Arsenal so will be interesting to see what type of midfielder who can develop in to.

But i thought he went to Pool to play on his fave position. Otherwise what is the point of leaving Arsenal of he is going to be used as a LB
===========================================================
Well, that’s what he's reported to have said, but who knows?
It’s highly unlikely he’s been able to stipulate where he can play before signing.
It’s very rare for clubs to accept that, and they’re only likely to do it for more established players than O-C.

Perhaps he just thinks he was stagnating, and can enjoy more, or be better suited to, Liverpool’s style of play. It’s been reported that that’s why Lemar was interested in LFC.
But who knows if any of it is true?

For England the other night, he was playing in a fairly rigidly defined position.
For us, I think his role will be a lot more fluid than that, and I don’t think he’ll be a first-choice until he’s well-practised at playing that way.

For a high-energy, high-press game, we’re going to need a lot of rotation in the forward positions, and they will all need to understand positional flexibility, because that’s how we play.

Chaos theory?
Nah, I think you may be over-egging it a bit, Vulva.

There’s positional changes, but I’d be surprised if it’s all predicated on a complex mathematical model.
