The Reds have won three of their four top-flight fixtures against City since the German was appointed manager, with a draw recorded the last time the teams met in March.
Philippe Coutinho, who has scored in four of his six league matches against City, made a miraculous recovery from a lower back injury while on international duty with Brazil. The 25-year-old’s push for a transfer to Barcelona was unsuccessful and he took part in full training on Thursday. The reds are also without Nathanial Clyne (back injury) and Adam Lallana (thigh injury). Simon Mignolet will replace Loris Karius in goal in the only expected change to Liverpool's line up from Arsenal.
Daniel Sturridge sits on 99 career goals, 61 for Liverpool.
#LFC team to face: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Salah, Mane,Firmino.
LFC Bench: Karius, Lovren, Gomez, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke, Sturridge.
Manchester City will be without Raheem Sterling due to suspension and Vinny Kompany after he picked up an injury on international duty in mid week.
Sergio Aguero will look to keep up his impressive record against Liverpool, which has seen him score in his last 5 games against them at the etihad.
City team: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Danilo, Mendy, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva, Jesús⚽️⚽️, Aguero⚽️.
City bench: Bravo, Gundogan, Mangala, Delph, Sane⚽️⚽️, B.Silva, Foden

You have played some average teams at home. Wait until you have played top quality and then judge.

Bad decision. However if I were a referee I could be turned when I see how bad the player in the recovering end looks. He went with his heart instead of his head. Obviously it completely changed the game. Luckily it was a game against City away which we could have lost anyhow ( I think we would have won it) so we go again. Coutinho in for Mane in the next few league games. Not bad.

He deserves that. Sane is an excellent young player. As is Sterling who didn't even feature. Hopefully the idiots begin to recognise Stones too. It's become the done thing to consider Stones as a terrible defender but they couldn't understand football of it hit them on the face. And I'm the drunk one. Says more about them.
