Do you remember when the .......

First league table wasn't published till after the 3rd game of the season and the old adage don't judge your team till after 10 games well soood that. No only joking.
When we won the premier league we started with the similar games and again last season. So its not a good barometer on how this seasons going to go. The good news is there seems to be some really pants team in this division this season.

So whats your confidence level on the players the management lets leave Rudkin out of it he is a gift that keeps giving if the truth is we where procrastinating about 5m then he's doomed. If The guys at the other end where jerking our chain its still going to be his fault.

Hmm. Definitely the sound of knives being sharpened, even if they're not being actively plunged into managerial bodies yet.

It is disappointing that we couldn't get anything out of those three games, but the performances were promising. Keep them up and I'm sure the results will come given the attackers at our disposal.

TB i stand corrected but Arsenal and Liverpool are hardly bottom three material.

I normally say its good to play the big boys before they settle in but its not worked this season and we have looked bang average against the Manks and the Leicester old boys...

Don't worry Nev, I think we all know your position and spin you'll put on everything.

The game that disappointed me the most in terms of the result was Arsenal away. We could and perhaps should have got something from that game and it did take me a while to get over it.

The game that disappointed me the most in terms of performance was Manchester United away. I really felt like we offered very little that game and just defended deep until we inevitably succumbed. It has to be put into context against the quality of the opposition and being away from home, but it convinced me that we’re well away from the top 4-6 this year.

The other two games weren’t too bad and you’d like to think we’ll pick up points against poorer teams and indeed did against Brighton.

I’d probably say we’re a mid-table looking team at the moment. We’re 2 or 3 players short of starting to be able to compete with the best sides. The problem I see is that we’ll lose players at the same rate as we’re able to recruit the quality we need to close the gap, which just demonstrates how hard it is to get near the big teams.

Correct Joby. Which makes our achievements two seasons ago even more incredible, and why I maintain that it was then or never.

Imagine if we'd lost all these players and we were left asking what could have been. That heavens we don't need to ask that, because it was.

We have started with simmilar games ???
Well if we are being pedantic yes they were all prenier league teams. The only equivalent from the prem winning season was the totties at home ( only a draw but in hindsight how important would that be) and given our record at Upton Park that win was a bonus.
and even last season we got a draw at hme to the ars
(unusual for us)
and bang average at Moan U ? perhaps we should have gne for them and lost 5 or 6-1

Its disapointing to only have 3 points, but I think its where most of us would have expected given the fixtures. i agree with joby that arsenal was disappointing as we should have got something from that, and we could easily have got something from Chelsea ( ultra soft Kante goal , Morata possibly offside ( straws/ clutching)and Slims miss/ Cortois save.
.
Lets look at it when weve played a few more games and weve got some players fully fit (Huth, Iborra, Ian Acho, Drago) not to mention will we ever bung fifa enough to get Silva. I think we will be comfortable mid table.

At least Shakeys lasted longer than Frank de Boer
