Like the seniors, the U19s got off to a winning start yesterday in UEFA's junior equivalent of the Champions League.
Goals from Barlow, Boonen - who has dropped back down from the Reserves squad to feature in the competition-, Gomes (pen, after Boonen was pulled down) and Bohui (pen, after Gomes was tripped) sealed the victory in an action packed game.
All the goals can be seen here: http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/The-Academy/Academy-News/2017/Sep/video-manchester-united-4-basel-3-uefa-youth-league.aspx

In the other Group A game, Benfica beat CSKA 5-1 in Lisbon.

United's Academy next faces CSKA, with the game being played at the Oktyabr Stadium on 27 September at 14:00 local time (17:00 GMT).
The subsequent games against Benfica - whose squad includes UEFA U17 Championship 2016 Golden Player Award winner Jose Gomes and the highly rated playmaker Jota - should be excellent tests for United.

Nice one.
Real Madrid might've defended it, but no club has won both age groups.

Gomes will do it for you youth, amongst many others like Chong. (If only Gomes' nickname was Cheech )
And Fellaini wil sort them over at Madrid.

And Nicky Butt Butt Butt
It'd be nice to see the kids progress to the knockout stages, and it's obviously great experience for them.

Thanks for the update Rosso. You're a champ. Boonen and Gomes to trouble teams this year?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They will Dave, absolutely.
Boonen looks like he's already settled in the Reserves. He's been heavily involved in their attacking play and will help fill the creative gap whilst Gribbin is out.
How the two link up when Gribbin is back will be interesting to see.
