Jose - so far so good ?

What do people make of Jose's time at United so far ?

I know there was a lot of resistance to his appointment so thought i would ask.

I personally think he is doing a very good job.

Robb, when you make actual points worth replying to, I'll give you a proper response.

Lovely attitude there.

Kaz, yet others have one that or the FA cup and they weren't propelled to anything.

what's others got to do with it? I'm talking about utd and what that trophy did for us in 2006, don't care one bit about what its done for other clubs

Couldn't really care less about domestic cups. If I was to prioritise:

CL
Pl title
Pl top 4
Fa cup
...
...
..

League cup. (Play reserves) who cares.

New fan obviously.

Hardly. Just less prestigious than the rest of the trophies. Most clubs put it way down priority list.

interested to know what all those thing you would put before winning the league cup? most top teams do put reserves out the 1st few rounds but its pretty obvious once teams get to the qf they think hold on we can win a trophy here and most if not all of the big guns come in

Rather come 6th and win the league cup and Europa League than come 2nd and win nothing like Spurs did. "

Eric, would you rather see football at Old Trafford like we have so far this season and challenge coming a close second, or see the football last season and win Europa and the League Cup?

Personally, I'd rather see goals, be entertained like yesterday and challenge for bigger titles, it's more exciting as a fan to be in the mix come April. If you are in the mix most seasons you'll eventually see us winning big honours.

Watching us against Celta at OT squeeze the life out of the game was depressing tbh.

Jose had no choice but to go strong in the League Cup. We had City at OT and we were playing awfully. The squad needed a lift.

All trophies should be celebrated. Only 3 domestic trophies available and 6 sides capable of winning them.

Kaz, the way you made it sound like it was like a stepping stone to winning more. I'm just saying it isn't. We were a side used to winning, so when we had a drought, we needed that winning feeling back. That was then and this is now.

We had won the FA cup the previous season to winning the league cup and Europa. The trophy isn't important. If we finished 6th and didn't win the Europa, no one would be lauding the league cup.

The only way you can be unhappy with Jose is if you thoroughly dislike his demeanour and brand of football.

Results-wise, there's nothing really to complain about. I think there's a difference between what one might hope and what one can demand. United had been all over the place for several seasons. No matter the outlay, to demand a title challenge straight away was unreasonable, imo.

Two official trophies during that transitional season is an excellent return. The squad has been refreshed and looks much stronger now, and early signs suggest you'll be in the title race this season.

League title aside, winning the Europa League is probably the best way to qualify for the CL nowadays. It's definitely miles better than finishing 4th.
