Stop Trying to Censor Us

I am very tribal when it comes to football, but if there's one thing that can make me reach across the aisle, it's the authorities and fans who want to control our speech.

Yes some of things we say are offensive, but that is part of the joy of football culture.
We taunt opposition fans, we sing mocking and abusive songs, we eff and jeff at the referees, the managers, their players, our players and the big fat know-it-all sat behind us.
Win, lose or draw, the match going experience is equal parts exhilaration and catharsis, more so than any Shakespearean tragedy could hope to achieve.
For many of us, it is our only opportunity to blow off some steam.

Football culture is inherently working class.
It doesn't matter how educated you are or much money you make, if your identity is that of someone who prefers to relax with a match, a meatpie and a pint as opposed to the opera or a West End show, you are working class.
And the problem with the working class is that we don't conform to the sensibilities of the middle class.

They sneer at us, they mock our passions and they think we're stupid.
They arrogantly believe we don't vote in our own best interests; they are convinced that our politics is informed by racism, and they see racism everywhere!

This is what truly motivates establishment organisations like Kick It Out; they believe if they can control what we say, they can control what we think.
If they can silence any opposing voices by claiming it is bigoted 'hate speech', they think that they will be able to engineer society.

If we allow these moral busy-bodies to censor the chants and jokes of football fans, what jokes will Chris Rock be able to tell in Britain, which Mel Brooks films will be permitted?
Will there be designated free speech areas, like comedy clubs that are the only place you can speak your mind... or are they next?

I know some football fans favour political correctness, but there are those of us who value liberalism more, and a man's right to speak his mind free from persecution.
But if we don't stand up to be counted, and defend those rights, we could lose them forever x

Last time I checked Football stadiums were actually private property, so in that sense stopping people from singing the chant will not infringe any human rights. Technically the club could have shut down the green and gold protest if the wanted but it would have counter productive to do so.

If you feel that strongly about a childish chant in which the club and the player himself are both uncomfortable then it's a bit sad really.

if you are offended by words then you will ultimately fail in life when this politically correct nonsense which has spiralled totally out of control comes to an end,

more people are worried about people saying lukaku has a big appendage than they are about Iran USA and Korea playing chicken with eachother with nuclear weapons

if you get offended by people saying lukaku is well hung then you need to take a big look at yourself

im telling you the next generation of weak minded people caught up in this offense taking culture are going to screw the whole world up,

the thing is,

not one of these people are offended by it, They are being told to be offended by it. if there wasnt any news coverage of it you would not have fans of either club coming away crying about naughty words being said at a football game.

say it out loud, "i am deeply offended by a chant about lukaku's wang"

you will sound like a moron

I really don't see the issue. If you want to go about singing about players with massive members you are entitled to do so. Just not at a football ground which is private property, the owners of which set the rules of how to behave. I find it hilarious that people get offended that some people MIGHT offended.

One or two people who have commented HAVE insinuated that I'm racist.
I'm just wondering which race or mixture of ethnicities they think I am.
And then I want them to really think about what lead them to that assumption.
I don't want an apology, I just want them to think twice about throwing the accusation of racism around x

Zero.chance of that happening.

People are regularly referred to as Nonces' racists and all.sorts on here

I officially want to start a "24" campaign.
Nothing more, nothing less, Clean and effective.

"24".

Now we could also go with "24 in '17", "24 and proud" "We are 24" "24 matters" "24 is just a number". It begins, get the t-shirt press out.
