Forest V Fulham Match Thread

What do you need after losing 4 out of 5 league matches and a severe thrashing by the Prem' Champions thrown in?

Why you need to play Fulham just three day's later of course.

Fulham prefer to draw as opposed to winning, but they don't lose a lot either. Stats are W2, D5, L2 in marked contrast to Forest who haven't managed to draw all season.

Fulham looked like fighting out a goal-less draw against Middlesborough before Fulham substitute Aboubakar Kamara thought he had given the hosts victory at Craven Cottage when he headed in Ryan Sessegnon's cross on 86 minutes. Unfortunately two minutes later Republic of Ireland full-back Christie fired in to level for the visitors.

So a 1-1 draw then.

Fulham head coach Slaviša Jokanović said:

"There was an important mistake at the end of the game. We had the chance to clear the ball in our box and when you don't do it they can punish you and we paid an expensive price.

"In my opinion we are close to our maximum level, I cannot be disappointed with our performance, it's one of the best performances against one of the best teams in the Championship.

"We didn't shoot too many times but we arrived in the last third so many times and scored only one goal."

Fulham forward Floyd Ayite looks likely to miss out the next couple of weeks at least following an injury picked up today against Middlesbrough.

The impressive striker put in a good first half performance at Craven Cottage but was taken off with four minutes to go until half-time.

Post-match, White boss Slavisa Jokanovic has ruled Ayite out of Tuesday's game at Nottingham Forest and faces an anxious wait on an MRI scan.

"It's his hamstring again," confirmed Jokanovic.

"I don't know how long he will be out for in this moment, I don't have the information.

"But if it's something then we will probably miss him for the next two games."

Last season Fulham either finished in or close to the playoffs, whereas we hung on by the skin of our teeth.

That just shows what a improvement has taken place in Nottm Forest F.C as a whole, that it's not unreasonable to expect Forest to win on Tuesday night.

Forest have unquestionably missed the influence of David Vaughan, who should return to full training tomorrow following a groin injury that has left him sidelined for longer than the club had initially hoped it would.

Mark Warburton said;
“David does dictate that tempo for us and we have missed his influence but, having said that, I also thought that Liam Bridcutt was excellent for us," said Warburton. “He was sick at half time and we are not sure what caused that. Hence why he was late coming back on".
“Ben (Osborn) was stripped and ready to come on for him. But Liam showed his character by carrying on. He showed real commitment."

Unfortunately we can no longer rely on either David Vaughan, nor Chris Cohen. That is harsh but true, Chris I think has only played once this season and David Vaughan is obviously breaking down during the recovery process.

I think that Warburton needs to recognise that he needs at least one proper hard tackling fullback in the defence and bring back Eric at Right Back, Darwikwa can play right wing and would be more comfortable in that position than B.B is.

I would like to see BB up front with Jason Cummings alongside with Clough sitting behind, perhaps play Osborn in a deeper midfield role.

They'll be full of it after hammering Wednesday at Hillsborough. Hope Wolves can bring them back to earth with a bump tonight.

Unfortunately not Will. They are beating Wolves,

If we can't beat S Utd we're in the mire.

Hobbs in defence won't solve anything. In fact switching none of the defence around will. It's the tactics. The defence are struggling with it. If we went Hobbs he'd have to just clear it each time as he can't pass and isn't mobile enough.

Fine by me btw, 10 ball players and a wall will be fine by me

Yep, as soon as Wolves went down to 10, they weren't likely to trouble the Blades.

They're on a great run and now have the spotlight on them now they have jumped into second place. Will they be able to handle that? They were notorious for being a bit flakey during their years in the League 1 wilderness but Wilder seems to have got them in a good place.

Looking forward to seeing Billy Sharp. Still going strong up there. He was always great to watch at Forest despite his injury problems. I'm sure he will get a great reception from the Forest fans should he be playing.

We definitely need an early goal on Saturday. Against Fulham and against Villa, and possibly other matches it would have been a diferent game if we had scored early when we were playing well and on top.

We seem to have a good first twenty minutes and a good last fifteen minutes. It's the hour in between those two spells when we knock off that is the problem.

Personnel and formation isn't the issue. We have to be at it for the full ninety.

Fulham fans comments...

Not at our best, or they were better at times.

Wow how lucky were we. Think karma has balanced its self out. We deserved a draw at best.

We scored from the free kick against the run of play. The third goal was also against the run of play. But we have had to put up with dominating games so often and getting nothing that it is good we can score when we are up against it.

Sometimes you have to win ugly when not at our best.

Forest missed enough chances to have wrapped up the points before we scored our second.

Good win tonight, didn’t play that well, but showed grit in the end and even sneaked a winner with our backs against the wall!

We try to keep high line, but our team level pressure on the ball and keeping it tight with opposition players around the ball is not at the level where it should be. Forest showed us today, how it should be done, IMO.

Lucky to win tonight, but to be fair, you can say the opposite for many of our past games. Nice to win ugly for a change!

All in all, I thought Forest was the better team for possession and ideas. However, glad we were the recipients of 3 points, even if it was daylight robbery.

Maybe our luck is changing, about time we nicked 3 points from another team who were better on the night perhaps. As opposed to being mugged ourselves.

We were outplayed, funny old game.

Wow can't say we deserve this win.

We were over due some luck, mainly due to Forests woeful finishing.

Well, hopefully the balance of luck will shift back the Reds way starting on Saturday!
