Development Squad.

Much has been made of Rangers doing the rounds playing the big teams from down south. Yesterday saw Leicester U18s (when really they were mostly if not all 17) take on Rangers at Ibrox. Leicester ran out 6-1 winners at a canter. I'm not sure if this is doing the Rangers lads any favours or what can be gained as it's not competive enough. I for one think they should have stayed and played in the development league where it was a battle for players to impress and push for first team squad.

Maybe Rangers should take their first team out of the Scottish Premiership and just play friendlies.

That way they don't play the same teams 4 times a season and they might get to face some decent European teams

Was at the game last night, exercises like that one are exactly why the club decided to take this route.

Worth remembering it was a very young Rangers team as well, quite a few of the boys were in the Glasgow cup team a few months ago. The whole idea though is to put them against better players rather than the usual guys they have been coming up against for the past 8 years week in week out.

In terms of the game itself I thought first half was even, second half Leicester got ahead and Rangers didn't respond. I listened to Graham Murty after the game who said a few of them got a taste for what it was like playing at Ibrox with a crowd on their backs when things weren't going well, and that is exactly what they need to prepare for if any of them make it in the first team.

Correct...that is ideal prep for the first team !

In murty we trust!

I hope we don't lose murty, I think he is good to have in the club and good for the youth team.

The biggest problem with youth football in Scotland is that far too many people worry about the score, hump the ball forward and get goals, who cares it's youth football , there's more to be taken from a match than the score

Laudrup,

As evidenced with the young boy McCrorie. Really impressed with him. Blessing in disguise having defenders out injured

Dal there's been loads of you guys come through to this level and went no where after it, tom Walsh (who I know personally ) doesn't have a club, Stuart McCall played in quite a few games, Andy Murdoch is the same McCall liked him too , he is now at Morton , but what happens to these boys?
