Rangers and Pedro Criticism

Hi folks, there has been a lot of criticism of Rangers and Pedro this season and I wanted to put some positives forward to try and balance things and also get a few things off my chest.

So far Rangers have played 8 league games and have 14 points. The only two teams with higher points total currently are Aberdeen and Celtic.

Rangers have also reached the league cup semi final unlike Aberdeen and have a good chance of reaching the final.

Therefore, should the other managers such of teams such as st johnstone and Hibs be under the same criticism as Pedro, because surely their start to the season is slightly worse?

The argument and justification seems to be that Rangers are a bigger club and have spend more money so lets have a field day.

However Pedro had to clear a lot of the squad from last year and start again. He was also left with a 38 year old striker to replace. Miller cannot keep going forever, so he has had to bring in a brand new strike force and so far we seem to be scoring a decent amount of goals in our wins.

We lost to hibs when we were unfairly reduced to 10 men. Hibs have proved they are a good team, getting a decent result also at celtic park and have also reached the cup semi final, but Rangers are ahead of hibs in the league, so should Lennon be getting more criticism?

We have had a couple of draws, one at home to Hearts and one away to thistle. big deal. Are people suggesting that Rangers should be playing 38 league games and win 34 of them and possibly lose the 4 x games against Celtic?

The problem at the moment is that Celtic are quite a way ahead in strength of squad to everyone else and Rangers are being measured against that. I know people will say what about aberdeen? Well we have not played aberdeen yet and pedro has already won 3-0 at pitodrie last year. I know we are 6 points away from aberdeen but its early days.

Rangers have also lost key players in defence and although Mcrorie is a good prospect for us, its clear he needs time to get up to this level to be able to perform at a consistent high level. We are clearly missing alves in defence and we have lost wallace too. Its great we have declan playing so well as a replacement and therefore pedro should receive praise for bring in alves and declan, instead of criticism.

Pedro for me has done well bringing the following guys into the club:
Candeias
Herrera
morelos
john
jack
dorrans
Cardoso

Pedro has been open and honest enough to say that Pena needs more work fitness etc, so why critisise pedro for that. We should criticise managers like strachen that come out and praise players and performances that leave you scratching your head in disbelief!

The players in our squad that I get frustrated with currently are windass, tav and holt etc, but these are not Pedro's signings and are typical of Warburton signings that were giving inconsistent performances last season. Pedro must know he has to replace these guys if they dont step up. We tried to sign walker from hearts but failed.

I think pedro deserves another transfer window or 2 to see if he can strengthen the weak areas of our team.

I think under the circumstances he has done as well as can be expected.

My question to people that critisise Pedro. Who are they recommending Rangers replace Pedro with? Easy to critisise, but harder to come up with a solution.

Guys like Chris Sutton are just hot air. Pundits like him are there to stir up controversy. He should be asked to say who Rangers should get in to replace Pedro.

I wanted to get this off my chest.

His gross spend, we've been told on here, is circa £10 million. I know you've brought money in, and his net spend is less, but the gross figure is what was touted by Gers fans earlier in the season.

I was commenting on this.

I understand you are not presenting this figure as fact.

But there are plenty of Gers fans who don't believe for a second we spent £10m.

To me that figure is unrealistic and repeatedly quoting it (as it has been in recent weeks) just because a couple of folk on here said it is misleading.

You need to chill then, and stop jumping in, as you missed when I said this later:

''No, we don't know the outlay-I'm just having a dig at the Gers fans that were touting the figures though!'

I'm sure there was a thread telling us how much was spent, and was disparaging of Celtic fans who'd previously said the figure wasn't the case.

good - so we are in agreement then that quoting the £10m figure was being misleading.

Happy days👍

Yeah-no idea why some of your fellow supporters ever believed it.
